Dragon Ball Z Movie

Dragon Ball Z Feature to Shoot in Montreal?
Source: The Gazette
September 4, 2007

The Gazette has posted unconfirmed news on the Dragon Ball Z movie at 20th Century Fox:

The 20th Century Fox studio is expected to shoot three big-budget movies in Montreal over the next year; each has a budget of at least $100 million. The films are the Night at the Museum sequel Another Night, Independence Day director Roland Emmerich's remake of the sci-fi flick Fantastic Voyage and a big-screen adaptation of the Japanese manga Dragonball Z.

Dragonball Z is adapted from the manga created by Akira Toriyama; the work was also turned into a Japanese anime series that played all over the world. It tells the story of an alien sent to destroy Earth, who has a change of heart and decides to join the humans in their fight against various aliens and bad guys.

There are no details yet as to when these three shoots will begin, but they are expected to wrap production by next July

I don't know, it might be ok, remember The Matrix: Revolutions where they had the air battle, if they can do it better (and they can cause the technology is available) it might turn out ok. This would then depend on the director - hopefully they won't use someone like Uwe Bowl

OH NOES!!! save US! :(
"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.

Sweet!

Although 2 years ago a Live-Action DBZ movie was also announced and it was supposed to be released on April 2006 if I remember correctly.
You can search the PCF forums and find the thread on that.

I hope this one turns out to be true.

It wont hold true to DBZ. DBZ is about taking a 5 minute task and telling it in 5 episodes. They simply dont have the movie time to do this. My bet is they show how Goku puts on his pants and leaves the house in a glorious 1h30m movie.

There are some series you should not convert to live action. IMO this is one. Had a sort of throw-away value back in the day - I'll watch the live action when it comes out, but I wont be hoping for Transformers quality...

I'll also watch the NGE live action movie, also without high hopes.

I don't know, it might be ok, remember The Matrix: Revolutions where they had the air battle, if they can do it better (and they can cause the technology is available) it might turn out ok. This would then depend on the director - hopefully they won't use someone like Uwe Bowl
Um well Revolutions was basically a DBZ rip off (and a poor one at that)

Wont be the same, unless they also make em grow tails and grow dynamically enough , including the hair and all... Kamehameha also wont be the same... Nor Spirit bomb... They will HAVE to do it anime style... only option...

Not arguing that it was good, just saying that for CGI only that was freakin amazing. (at that time)

And given that at present they would probably be able to do a much better job.

They have the ability to make this great, yet they also have the potential to fail miserably.

Just like comic to movies this could go either way, and for this to continue you atleast need a few successes, and the problem is that with the first movies they tend not to put so much effort into it hoping for a quick cash-in.
But I do agree CGI was good in Revolution and as far as spirit bomb and Kamehameha goes they should be able to pull it off, what I'm wondering is what are they going to do about the characters hair? :P
