iMac Memory and USB ISDN modem

Post by passif »

Hopefully one of the Apple fundis can help. My brother in law has an Apple iMac G3 and he wants to upgrade the memory. Now, I have a 512meg PC133 SDRAM and 2x 256meg SDRAM from an old PC. I've done some digging around and it appears that the iMac uses PC133 SDRAM. Would it work to drop in the ones that I have?

I also have an ISDN modem (USB interface). Would the iMac pick it up as a modem to use as he is keen to move on from the analog modem to ISDN.

For both I don't see why it wouldn't work. For the memory though you should just check the brands allthough it may work perfectly with two diffrent brands it may not it just depends on what they are
Cooler Master RC-690 CM 690
Intel Core i7 950 3.06 GHz
MSI R5870
2 x 1TB WD Black
Corsair DDR3-1600 6GB DOMINATOR
Intel SmackOver DX58SO MB
Corsair TX650W Power Supply - 650W
Samsung P2350 23"
Windows 7 ultimate 64bit

Apple uses a lot of PC based components these days. Ram, Video Cards, Hard Drives etc.

My G5 at work has a ATi Radeon 9600 in it with DDR ram and a 120gig HDD.

Its seems like the only difference these days would be the CPU, Mobo and OS that they use.

Give it a try. If it doesn't work then you know.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Thanks guys - he'll take the hardware down (he actually stays in the Cape) and give it a go.
