Post by WAJeff »

I recently got myself an HTC  Now, I've Googled myself to death and cant seem to find a decent site for downloads of themes, apps etc etc
You know of any decent ones? And just as a btw, for the people who know me - Im working on installing a Nix distro on it when I get a SD card :headbang: coz running Windows Mobile feels a touch contradictory

Ooh, nice :) Which HTC did you buy?

As for themes and apps and stuff. A nice freeware source is Freewareppc. A great forum is XDA-developers, but it's VERY big, and VERY busy.

I suggest you flash a new ROM onto that phone. I do NOT recommend going with a *nix OS. As far as i know, they're all pretty crap :(

Got the HTC S710. Really wanted to go with the Touch or Diamond, but it was a bit outta my price range...
Cool man, I'll go take a look when Im at the office tomorrow :D Shots for the advise

With running Linux, I've seen Android run on a Touch HD from a mate of mine at work, and you cant use it at all. Everything is in reverse
What will flashing a new ROM onto it do? Still a no0bcakes when it comes to phones :P

Flashing the ROM on a WM phone is like installing an nLited copy of XP on a PC. So you remove all the crap that you don't need, add stuff that you do, and also optimize the OS.

I have an app on my phone (well, it's built into my current ROM) that allows me to select what i want the phone to do when i plug it in - Sync, or act like a flash drive. I NEVER sync my phone and my PC, so i only use the flash drive functionality.

BTW, you're not going to find anything :(

DAE_JA_VOO, After two straight days of looking for apps to see my HTC I found nothing.... maybe I should start a dev project with some guys at work

Anyway, whats that app you use called Ett? You still got your EEE dude?

I have no idea what that app is called. It's built into the very core of my ROM, so it's not an App, as such, more part of the OS itself.

Nope, sold my EEE a while ago ;)

Got the flashing bug :(, I am trying so many different variants of Windows Mobile just to find the one that suits me. What irks me is the one I have found is also the one that uses the most mem :(.

It's okay, keep flashing. I must have flashed about 20 times before found the ROM I'm using now ;)

Whoa, 100MB? Mine are only about 40-50MB each, but I tend not to download the ones filled with a bunch of apps that I know I won't use.

The light ones weigh in at about 80MB :P

Such is the price for the Touch Diamond...
