So far so good for my predictions.

If Ireland can secure only a win against Italy, they are top of pool C. Aus will have a field day with Russia so I see them bagging a 5 pointer there.

My head says Ireland will come out tops over Italy, but it will be better for SA if Ireland lost and Aus finished top of Pool C. Because then Aus can battle it out against Wales and we take on Ireland.

I think either way, we will meet NZ in the semi's.

@Icepick: Even if we kick the ball back to the opposition backline as we did today?

Except if Italy beats Ireland and prevents Ireland from achieving a bonus point, then suddenly Ireland lies third.

But I, too, am banking on an SA-Aus quarter, and then an SA-NZ semi.

I see that Fran Steyn's tournament is over-and that France lost to Tonga.

Dan Carter is out of the tournament too. I hope they play Weepu at flyhalf instead of Slade.

I think that they will be "sukkeling" more in days to come.

Please explain to me why the selectors would send a fullback [Zane Kirchner] to New Zealand when a centre [Frans Steyn] was sent home?

He has a shoulder injury.

Can Zane not play multiple positions as well?

I'd love to, but they would only be able to use me as a replacement player in the last 5 minutes of the match, or else I'd die. Also, my tackling ability is limited to people running straight into me.

Just a guess, but I think that either of Ireland or Wales could do well int his world cup, seeing as they are still reasonably fresh and well-rested, what with this being the beginning of their season, whereas the TriNations countries appear to be a little on the knackered side.

Perhaps they consider Lambie a utility back?

You know, I missed the live game the other day, and I finally caught the repeat on SABC last night. I don't think it really cost anyone anything, but the ref had a bit of a shocker, didn't he? Not in a biased way, but he just missed so much!

I'd love to see Ireland achieve in the World Cup. Wales not so much. I don't know why; I just don't like Wales. :dontknow:

A simpleton can predict the rest of the RWC.
Wales taking out Ireland.
Eng taking out France.
Austr taking out the Boks.
NZ thrashing Arg.

Eng taking out Wales.
NZ taking out Aus.

Aus taking out Wales. = 3rd/4th place
NZ taking out Eng. = winner and runner up
.....................................................................

so there.

After Bakkies and Frans's exit... I guess it is marginal 50/50.
I chose the other 50 because choking will be our game under this high pressure game.
Zane K is overrated, predictable and useless on defense.

EDIT

I changed the choking sentence to reflect what I intended to mean.

De Villiers is an able enough replacement for Steyn. And I honestly don't think that it's fair to call the Boks chokers. Wrong sport.

De Villiers will shine as a ball fumbler and miss tackler of note. Mark my words. The little game time he had will show.
As for calling them chokers : Choker = A team that suffers a nervous collapse caused by pressure of expectation to obtain the win.

Dare I say it... Much of the main framework of key players are guys selected by Jake White, even now. Peter de Villiers is still riding the the dying waves of a rugby genius. As soon as he needs to identify key players and talent able to be honed into a working unit from scratch, he will fail miserably.

I agree with your assessment of de Villiers. Seriously, my biggest concern in this World Cup is not the Bok players but the tactical planning. I'm no rugby coach, but de Villiers seems clueless a little too often for my liking. Still, I think our players are capable enough of beating Australia.

Man, I hope you guys are wrong. I'd hate for the damn Aussies to be the ones that play us out of the contest. :?
