It was like watching the Springboks against my high school's second string side. :(

WP was outplayed in every department.

I just want to say that WP was very strong when they turned the momentum.
It was a valiant effort, however the injuries early in the game sacked the entire squad.

I think that this may be partially true. Losing Januarie was a big blow. Whilst Duvenhage is not necessarily a BAD player, his season has been plagued by poor decision making, and Saturday was no different.

That said, there was just poor play all around. They dropped the ball, they lost their footing, they allowed turnover ball all the time, and even when they managed to keep the ball they just couldn't penetrate the defence. I thought their best chance at beating the Sharks was to spread the ball down the backline, which they hardly did.

Most inexplicable, however, was the decision-making of the captain. For as long as I have been watching rugby, commentators, analysts and players have agreed that in big games (like, for example, a Currie Cup final) you take points on offer. Burger let four or five kickable penalties go begging in his search to save face with a try or two. With the gap significantly narrowed, who knows what might have happened?

All that said, the Sharks were clinical. I honestly did not expect Province to come back after two early tries. They were completely shell-shocked, and remained so for the rest of the game.

I am really keen now to see how some of those young Sharks stars translate their performance into green-and-gold jerseys.

:eyebrow: You have got to be kidding, januarie is Absolutely Crap according to me, Schalk made very bad decisions according to me for his team on Saturday, WP could have easily added 15 points to the score if they took the penalties to the posts, but on the other hand De Waal wasn't on his A-game with his boot, The Sharks just plainly outplayed the WP like you said Stuart

Januarie isn't my favourite scrummie in SA, but his decision-making far outstrips that of Duvenhage.

Same thing. :P

I certainly hope he has a bright Springbok future. He certainly did well enough against the 15 girls he played against on Saturday, so let's hope he can perform on the end-of-year tour.

So how bout them Springboks? My word, the Scottish?! After the All Blacks thrash Scotland 49 - 3, SA comes along and takes a hiding from them...

As usual though Willem Alberts had a great game, man what an impact player he is...

Opinions on what needs to change, is P Divvy the main culprit? It's as if the team doesn't feel much urgency to win a game and are just playing for the hell of it...

Unfortunately, I was prevented from seeing the game in its entirety, but (whilst this is never an excuse), it did appear from what I DID see that the ref had a bit of a shocker.

Still not a good enough performance though.
