No it couldn't have been that early. Thinking about it, I'm guessing it must have been the year 2000/2001, def. past 1998. It was just before high school for me.

If it was 2000/2001 then that is the next generation(w203) up from mine. That would explain the starter motor issues, as my mom has a 2001 A160 and that starter motor did die, it is also the same one used in some C-class's I think. also the build quality sort of went down the drain after 2000 :(

a w123 series(230E to be exact)
A friend has one of those. Very nice car and still in good condition, but it swallows petrol like nothing else. Something in the region of 4 - 5 km/l.

You cant really use them everyday, they are reliable enough but the fuel will cost you......but if you want an affordable, reliable classic then look no further. Hence why I want one

I like those, but I there is something I love about those old mercs. And as James May proved they are indestructible
