would your diet light up like a 1000 MW light bulb if you "eliminated" mince beef from your diet? :D

It is genetic, and my doctor has given me a 6x repeat script for Simvacor.

Just being on medication doesn't give me carte blanche to start eating cheese, margarine, cookies, rusks, steak, etc.-though I don't remember the last time Beatty House served the latter.
What dose are you taking and for how long have you been on it? Have you experienced any side effects?
Minimum dose [10mg]
For about a month.

Side effects such as? Feeling tired constantly? Frequent colds? I have had that a lot over the past two years, and it has got worse since January.

Afaik those aren't normally side-effects associated with Simvacor? But it has only been a month so wait and see.
Friend of mine is on a 'cocktail' of statins and other wonder drugs. Been having issues with liver function, muscle spasms and nausea.

I myself fork out in excess of R400 a month for Crestor - which isn't on my medical aids list of approved medicines.

And yet there are learned people out there saying that taking statins are a waste of time and money...

A surprising amount of modern pseudoscience is coming out of the environmental sector. Perhaps it should not be so surprising given that environmentalism is political rather than scientific.

Crestor increases risk of diabetes by 27%. Source. Eish. Are there no safe drugs out there?

Not me really. I eat everything put in front of me (except for beetroot), but diabetes sucks. I remember there was a newish drug at one point they human trialed for cholesterol that turned out to work well as a male contraceptive. Don't think it was a statin or any of the other usual drugs as I recall. Mmm, I'll have a look.

Never mind. The drug is Nifedipine, used since the 70's for hypertension, that has been found to have a contraceptive effect in males by binding cholesterol to the sperm. Forget I said anything.

My brother's doctor doesn't see any value in taking statins.

Muscle spasm/weakness would be a problem, as I have CMT

The light is a train. Sorry.

This just in people - we're all going to die. Jip, it's official. So live with it. The only reason I do my meds is to placate a loving family that are s**t scared of attending my funeral. Guess they worry that old Nick will come claim me himself on the day.

Anyway.

I'd rather live, than die for a helluva long time. So far, so good. I just hope it's painless.

And sorry Tribs, the death of countless innocent animals to aid me in my quest is a foregone conclusion.

Red meat makes me happy. So the science is right this time! ;)
