If you could see a mod on ANY locally available case...

Post by DAE_JA_VOO »

Which case would it be? Absolutely any locally available case, money not being a factor.

The reason I ask is because I've been asked to do a large scale mod, and asked to do "the best mod of my life", and I'm finding it a LITTLE tough to find the perfect case. Lian Li is obviously the first manufacturer that popped into my head, but I don't know which one :(

The first one that I'm considering is the Lian Li PC-X1000. I'm a LITTLE concerned about it's size though, I feel like I may struggle to fit a tripple raddy in there...

The second one I'm eyeing out is the V2010, which is very similar to my V2000.

I also quite like the new A77:

What do you guys think? Obviously, these cases will be extensively modded, so things like that ugly plate thing in front of the board on the X1000 will be removed, etc etc.

I think the V77 - very very nice case without being overly fancy. Lots of potential hidden in it!

How about the Lian Li Armorsuit PC-P80?

Yeah, that's what I like about it too. I manages to look really good without being overly fancy.

Nope, don't like that one :P

To be honest, the V2010 was really a last option for me, as it's SO similar to my own personal V2000, and I want to mod that one for RAGE.

Thanks for all the input guys :D I think I'll be using the PC-A77F :D After looking it over a few more times, it just made sense. It looks TOO good to avoid modding :D

Due to its release only being in about 6 weeks though, I'll have to start with the modding on other parts of the mod, like the PSU. It's quite an expensive case too - R3k excl VAT at cost. That's pretty rough for a case, but the again, it's Lian Li, and I don't have to pay for it, so I don't care anyway :P

I would LOVE to do a mod on the TJ, but it isn't available locally. Well, it is, but not brand new, and that's a prerequisite :(

What's the need on it having to be locally available anyway?

We assume that this is for his latest sponsored mod, and the sponsors want to purchase all the materials locally.

GMC R-4 Bulldozer Case don't know the exact specs of this case, but the design is interesting and I'm sure something creative can be done with it

Correct. This mod is being 100% sponsored, but the only catch is that anything I want to use for the mod has to be either locally supplied, or has to be imported and paid for (which I'm not going to do, since I won't get to keep the machine once I'm done).

Besides, this particular prize deserves a high end case like Lian Li or Silverstone.

Man, I'm starting to have cold feet about this case. I don't like that it doesn't have something separating the PSU section from the motherboard section.

I'll either have to make some kind of divider or go with the V2010...

Because that divider makes life a whole lot easier when modding, but I ended up going for that case anyway :P Sent the email this morning :P

I was so bloody busy I missed the whole forum this week (...and the week before  ...)

I would have suggested you take any beige box rip it apart and use just the frame and then go creative on it. Then you could literally do anything to the case but seeing as you have already chosen the box to mod (BTM), you obviously won't be using my idea and I still have it all to myself

and BTW since when is any box TOO plasticky for you, Mr DJV? ???????

Enjoy the mod
