Hi. Can anyone help me. Got an AM2 4200+ dule core with 7600gs in sli mode. Installed both ubuntu 5.04 32bit and suse 10.1 (don't have the 64bit versions). Both install fine, but when I boot to the hdd, I have nothing on my monitor(blank). Think it's the sli. Short of removing one of my cards, how can I make it work, or id there a distro that will work with sli.

thedon --> Welcome to the forums but this is not the place to post your question as it is not related to distro sharing.

Note to all, if you wget a DVD, don't be surprised if it fails at 2.1 gigs or so with an error... Rather FTP it... I learnt the hard way

was just under R40.

FC6 is pretty good, lots of supported hardware and loads of software included.
The look is pretty descent as well, I dropped the gnome and run KDE as the primary.

Installation and setup is pretty straight forward with a lot of services.
This is also one of the all in one distros.

FC and Suse is some of the most user friendly versions available, compiled for usability.

I'm currently running FC, Kubuntu and Windows XP on one drive.

Ok Linux peeps...

I made a special 25gb partition on my new hdd for linux and I go all excited when I say Beryl in action... so far as I can tell Feisty Fawn can be configured to get this eye candy without the user (me) committing suicide three times out of frustration...

But before I answer myself, what is the best Linux distro to get the most of the excellent pretty wow wonderful effects (Vista's backside!11!!)

...and then just as important... who is going to send me a disc withit... (I will pay... no really)

Beryl... BERYL...

Redhat is more a commercial disto, Fedora Core is a offspring of RedHat. If you want something commercial try suse it is owned by Novell a company that sells enterprise wide software, it also uses a rpm package system like Redhat. ( if you really want redhat you can try local linux vendors )

I don't think Redhat markets to the public

I found getting Beryl up and running on opensuse 10.2 was pretty strait forward. There are very good walktroughs on the net and everything you need you can download and burn to a cd, so you don't have to download it again if your installation goes boom.

There are two things I found that stalls my computer: Supreme Commander demo and beryl

Does Beryl have to be downloaded separately?

Yes it does, as is true for most of Ubuntu. To be precise, Beryl merged with Compiz, with the "bells and whistles" product called "Compiz Fusion".

I discovered that the basic Compiz "Desktop Effects" are working on my new installation, but I'm not sure how, since I didn't install it.

Nifty though. Next step is to get Fusion going so I can also go "ooooh! purdy!"
