So watcha think of the case.... Looks half decent to me for a relatively good price of about R1500. I like the relative clean design of it.

edit: on second thoughts nope. The other Thermaltake article is about another case and was created by Drakonis in regards to a news article posted on the PCF main page.

Take into consideration that this is a full tower case standing about 530mm in hight. And the CM690 is a mid-tower with a hight of 482mm

Also I specifically checked reviews because I ran into the trap where I can barely get my GFX card into the box due to the internal design.

There were two KK, both by Ruad, I deleted the one. Ruad is very quick with his fingers

hmmm...i had this case on show in our store during christmass...

its not bad imo but surely for that price you can pick up something made of alu and that size...

dont get me wrong, TT products are ok but as DJV says, the price is a bit steep for what you get...

I wont ever touch a TT product again, unless I'm paid to do a build for them.

When I was still a total "enthusiast n00b", I must've spent 10K on TT stuff, and pretty much all of it failed me somehow. I had WC kits, PSUs, cases, 5.25" bay controllers, you name it.

Thermaltake stuff is really not built well, and for R1500, you can most CERTAINLY get something better, that's for sure. Heck, rather run your PC out of a cardboard box for a few months and save up a bit more instead of buying a TT case. I've had cases from just about every case manufacturer worth their salt, or at least modded those cases, and Thermaltake is all the way down there with those crappy generic "gaming cases".

If you're on a tight budget, I suggest you check out Cooler Master's cases. Those cases are very cost effective, and they're great great cases. Some of them are super ugly (IMO), like the HAF cases, but functionally, those cases are great. Good airflow, strong build, etc.

Like Sojourn, I'm a Lian-Li kind of guy, though. Once you've had one Lian Li, it's overs. So if you can afford it, save up for a Lian-Li case. You won't be sorry, trust me.

EDIT: Also - I think that that big panel on top with all the USB ports, audio jacks, and that big fan control knob is a big no no. It feels like that was all an afterthought.

EDIT 2: Also, did you guys see the freaking WATER BOTTLE HOLDER on the side?!

What. The. Heck.

Why didn't the include a pencil sharpener, flashlight, and soap dispenser as well?

Stuff like that really puts me off...

Friends have had no issues with thermaltake products. Thermaltake is to you, what seagate and asus are to me

Had a look at CM and Lian-Li and I have to say the CM's are ugly and the only Lian-Li I would go for is the PC-A77F

Ruad,look if you can find one in store, and decide for yourself if its worth it.
Its a case, not a CPU cooler, it cant fail on you.

Personally, this is only the 2nd thermaltake case i have actually liked and would buy!

So if it floats your boat, and makes your shortlist, remember its only a case. It cant fail!

Thanks PureFire.... Well it does make my short list hence the topic....
Currently on my list would be

Thermaltake Element V
Lian-Li PC-A77F

The TT is cheaper by a long shot... almost half the price of the LL but now I will go hunting in shops to have a look at the actual cases and then see if the extra $$$ for the LL is justified or if it is merely for the name.

If anyone can suggest another case to add to the list please feel free to do so. I am open for suggestions. Bear in mind that I like minimalistic designs. I am not a big fan of weird protrusions from a case.

And? What's that got to do with it? Thermal take stuff is still low quality, anyone can tell you that. The only things that resembled any form of quality that they've made recently is that level 10 case and that 750W tough power psu.

it's definitely not just a name when it comes to LL. Those cases are hand crafted out of brushed aluminium, and feature what is almost unparalleled design and build quality. You'd be nuts to buy a TT over a LL if you could afford both.

Anyway, I just finished mod doing an A77F, and I'll tell you from personal experience, that case is awesome. Well designed, minimalist finish, etc. I'd be happy to use that as my case any day.
