DynDNS VPN Urgent Help

Post by Koko_Lion »

Alright, this has got me and everyone I have consulted with stumped.

The Situation:

Client in KZN uses a certain software package for billing etc. The KZN client software talks to a server in Cape Town, obviously the database that needs to be accessed to function.

This system was put in 3 years ago and has worked fine till now.

In order to communicate with the server, a DynDNS account was created to keep track of the changing IP addresses.

Now the connection to the server can't be made.

What I have found and tried so far:

The client and the server can both go online, internet, email, can teamview into both etc. So obviously no connection problem.

The IP address is correct on the DynDNS account, and is updated.

NSLOOKUP does resolve the host IP address in CMD, but can't ping the IP address.

Contacted MWEB (Who serves the clients internet) can't ping either. Nor can Cyberstorm (Who host the servers internet)

Checked that the ports used for the software to connect are open, and they are.

Done a ton of otherstuff, but please any ideas?
