Trojan Generic25.BSOC

Post by StarBound »

For some odd reason my AVG on the work PC decided that there is a virus in our PKZIPC.EXE file. The problem is it is wage day and that is the program used to back up the company data. AVG reports that the file is infected with a Trojan Horse Generic25.BSOC. I can't find anything on the net about it but it detects all my files from the previous 3 years infected aswell.

Is it time to put down AVG for crying horse or should I check something else? Housecall didn't pick up anything and when it accessed the exe file for scanning AVG went ballistic again.

Anyone got any ideas?

I don't think AVG had its immunity shots against false positives when it was a baby, because it's somewhat well-known for the Dreaded False Positive disease. If it's a program you've been using for three years without problem and you know what it is and what it does, I wouldn't be too terribly fazed by what AVG thinks.

Looks like Spybot also detected it as a false positive once upon a time: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=31731
