Hey, check it out, Andy's on PCF. I didn't know that.

And he's been here longer than me. Though he's made a few less posts.

Is there a place that sells second hand components? I need old computers for software testing.

Hi.

I'm thinking of creating a second hand section on my site, where people can submit an item, description and picture and then I will place it in a category specifically created for second hand transactions. In return I will charge the seller a 10% commission. If the seller is not in Jhb, I will include the price of courier to get the item to me. The buyer will have the chance to pay for the item via cash or credit card so this is one advantage. The other advantage is that the buyer does not have to deal direct with the seller (minimising fraud).

What do you think?

Regards

Maybe because we didnt know about it .

BTW you are not allowed to advertise on this forum so it will be a tad bit difficult for you to get your site known. Although I am browsing now and I am impressed so far. Will bookmark for next buy. :)

Oh and if you can get more Accelero parts you will definitly have a niche...

Well, I have just bought a whole lot of components for my next upgrade, which will be the weekend of 8 - 9 November (+- 3 weeks). The components I purchased are a new motherboard, processor and processor fan, memory and graphics cards. Fortunately I was able to purchase my new graphics cards and ram directly from a supplier who would ordinarily supply to places such as landmark, sybaritic, etc. Now that made a big difference in cost. Other places that I used to purchase other components, and which places I found to be very good as far as service, efficiency, speed and pricing is concerned are as follows:

http://www.digitalsaonline.co.za

http://www.landmarkpc.co.za

http://www.sybaritic.co.za

There is another place I found, but I haven't used them yet:

http://www.rebeltech.co.za
Asus Crosshair II Formula
AMD Phenom II X4 940 (at 3600 MHz [240MHz x 15])
OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500/1066/Reaper HPC Edition/Dual Channel (4 x 2GIG)
ASUS EAH5970
Creative Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro
Antec P180 & TruePower Quattro 1200W
Samsung SyncMaster T260
Logitech Peripherals
Windows 8 Pro 64-bit

Do you have to be a reseller to buy from PC Int? Or can you just be a company or end user?

NP. thanks :)

It might be an idea to include some of the links from the modding section here, specifically the few retailers who stock ITX and mini pc parts in SA. I'll copy over the links :)

Anybody in the Cape Town area can make use of Cyburbia (http://www.cyburbia.co.za). They are based in Somerset West. Good prices and quick service.

Also in the Johannesburg area Ikonicit (http://www.ikonicit.co.za). They also have great prices!

A surprising amount of modern pseudoscience is coming out of the environmental sector. Perhaps it should not be so surprising given that environmentalism is political rather than scientific.
