Half Life: Alyx

What is it?
==================

VR Title and Valve's latest offering since.. that other game... featuring Alyx the Vance's daughter. With the story arc falling just before HL2. So Half Life 1.5?

Graphically superb, (cannot overstate this), with fluid movement, interactivity and some very snappy weapon controls.

Plenty of puzzles and upgrades.

Plenty of squishy things to squish and be squished by.

Great story addition, with a twist.... as usual.

Not forgetting the menacing briefcase.

Where do I get it?
==================

Epi... I mean, Steam, of course...

What stood out?
==================

Difficult to say. Plenty of "wow" moments but when I randomly attempted, and managed, to put a bucket over my head - I was sold. Because *why would that even be catered for!*

Most obvious flaw/s?
==================

No crowbars.

Anything else?
==================

Supports: Valve Index, Vive, Rift and that Micrsoft rubbish. Played on Rift.

Overall, if you haven't played yet, beyond all shadow of a doubt the best VR title I've played yet. Nausea only presents during vertical movement buts that's more my problem than the game's.

If you're new to VR, absolutely play this first so you can gripe about how clunky the rest of the available titles are :lol:

I think that first, we need a "which VR headset should I buy?" thread. Personally leaning towards the Vive, but that's only because I've tried one out (and liked it), so it's more going with what I know than anything else -- so I stand to be persuaded into looking into the other options.

Honestly, I would have gone Vive but picked the rift up at MS Ignite for about 30% of local cost so wasn't going to sneeze at that...

That being said, the Oculus Quest's, (wireless version), latest update included real-time hand tracking - obviating eliminating the need for controllers.

We shall have to get this. Cannot wear that VR headset for too long though - but who knows - if the game is as engaging as you say Puppy....

This looks awesome, but just don't have the cash for VR. Been checking some videos on this game and it looks great, I was previously not impressed with VR games, the graphics looked like we took a step back to 1980, but ALYX looks good
