The Pre-Order Waiting Room

Post by DarkRanger »

Well, thought I'd create this little area where all of us can share pre-orders that we are waiting for. I'm getting so frustrated with discovering the awesome that is pre-order, because it made me realise that I am paying for something that does not exist yet, and then waiting for it to exist... Crazy, I know.

On that note, waiting for 2 pre-orders. I've got no idea how I'm going to devide my time between these two:
Assassins Creed III
Forza Horizon

Both on XBOX. With all the BF3 going on, my XBOX has been feeling a bit alone...

Black Ops 2 for PC with the CarePackage edition for the PS3.

Then I pre-purchased XCOM enemy unknown on Steam.

Maybe it was before your time. Or you weren't into strategy games at the time. I can't say I liked XCOM back in the day. I had Xcom 3 apocalypse but played it in real time. There is a demo available on steam but its set to easy. There is a way to edit the ini file to open up normal, classic and insane modes.

Done something stupid and supported a developer that slandered us pc gamers as pirates. That's right, I pre-ordered...
Assassin's creed 3 for PS3
Assassin's creed 3 liberation for PSVita
And after the trailer for it I also pre-ordered Halo 4 for the *****-box ...I mean xbox.

You place an order and you go on the system but they only bill you when they ship the game

Unless you want a collectors edition, you get a discount by pre-ordering or something else niche, pre-ordering can be quite sad.

Well not really. In SA you pay before hand. They don't deliver before you don't pay.

I would advise you buy it through takealot.com. Kalahari screwed me around on around 3 orders already (one of them preorder that I had to cancel eventually and go buy in the shop, for cheaper) so I won't be supporting them again.

I've got to say, I was pleasently suprised by FH. I expected a way more arcade like feel to it. And it's not. One thing that every Forza game does wrong is amount of cash you build up in a short time. I'm only starting with blue wristband, and I'm already 500 000 Cr up in the bank with a fully modded WRX STI and around 11 cars in the garage...

What I did see is that slides are easier to control and harder to get into. Don't know if it's just Forza 4 experience that makes it easier for me to know the limit or if it is actually like that.

Overall, great game, great idea. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Side Note: Just pre-ordered Crysis 3 for PC... FML... Did it again.

Kalahari screwed me around; never had a problem with Takealot.

wat.

You do the pre-order, they take you CC details there and then but dont charge you anything yet.
They only charge you when they have the game in their possession.
Once the charge clears they ship it.

Any other process is super dodgy and probably illegal.

TakeAlot isn't perfect but I've been with them since the days of Take2 and I have to say they are the best out of the 3 online game vendors.

How pre-ordering with takealot works is you order and 2 days prior to release you have to pay or have paid. They have payfast which is essencially EFT with credit card response time. I try not to use my CC except for steam. Even PSN is a pre-paid card after the hack.

Edit:
Actually, my apologies DarkRanger, I must have developed a temporary case of autism...
I just checked my last pre-order (Borderlands 2) to see when they actually billed me and it was right away...

Yeah, I went digging in my game receipts to find out why I had that idea in my head...

Good old Blizzard.
My Diablo 3 pre-order was made in 2 months before the games release and I was only charged for the game 3 days before it arrived in the post.
Steam operates the way you said, as I'm sure do most other retailers
