I love the game world and the sense of vertigo, story could possibly be very interesting. Although... considering that this is System Shock 2's legacy the game mechanics look pretty stupid.

It looks pretty cool. Makes me want to finish the first two. :)

Pretty please play SS2 first. Bioshock is the same game gone mainstream, which isn't so much of a bad thing but it will spoil SS2's story for you if you eventually do decide to play it.

Thanks, I'll give it a whirl. A friend has it I think.

Edit: Let's hope I get it to work in Win 7.

It only after this trailer that the game has started to look good to me. After Bioshock 2 I was put off the franchise following. So lets see what happens now. But from the looks of it it is degraded to cover shooting.

It ran fine on Win7 for me. Best game evar. 8) (I think there's a 50mb patch or something though. And a high-res texture mod I used.)

System shock 2 was one of those games that I really wanted to play because it was different from normal first person shooters. Having to specialize in a field and then upgrade weapons was new to me at that time. The alternatives were half-life and unreal back then and if you looked further back quake 2.

Judging the video you have 2 weapon slots, you do generate hp so cover shooter in the making but he had godmode on so he couldnt die (check the skyline chase part, he was dead before getting on). I really think it was a pc demo. The textures, draw distance and speed was far too good even for the powerful ps3 to handle unless it has a trick or 2 up its sleeve.

The games been silent for 2 years? Wow.

Ok Steam pre-load has started. The game weighs in at 14.9gb to download so it will be ready before the easter weekend.

Um ...

I haven't watched the review but I know the score ends with (see spoiler) and don't worry the spoiler also only contrains the link to the review in case you guys want to click it. I've decided I will go in blind into this one so I can play the game for what its worth with as little expectations as possible.

meh...

the bioshlock games missed the bar somewhat story-wise whilst offering some aggravating controls and less than impressive graphics... finished the first, almost finished the second but just didn't care enough to put myself through it...

I loved the first and thought the 2nd was utter crap. Maybe I would have had more respect if they didn't add GFWL!

I won't say I have high hopes for the title but I am looking forward to it.

Yes he is. I know there was talk about him not being in charge of bioshock 2 being the reason that bioshock 2 sucked.

Ok so I played about 45 minutes of BI last night ...this morning. No combat as of yet. I am still running around and exploring columbia.

But I have to say this is an excellent play on Rapture. The first few minutes of the game downplays the water theme of rapture in such a way that you feel like your playing Bioshock and soon thereafter it cuts you loose into something that is nothing like rapture.

Just a few screenies if you want to see from my steam profile:

Ok got some more time in with the game, finally saw some combat. I have to say there is a heavy religious side to the game and I've never seen racism to this degree in a game.

Bioshock Infinite is in absolute contrast to Bioshock. From dark and clostraphobic environments to open and well lit areas. The way the game is setup is just amazing and for the refined touches the emotions on Elizabeths face are just something to behold.

The game was good but I don't like the shift to military style console shooters. Give me my full range of weapons and access to all my vigors, don't let me sift through menus. The combat should have been more dynamic. Someone described it as arena mode.

Re: Bioshock Infinite

I see what you mean, however I think they did that to try and break away from the traditional gameplay of Bioshock 1 & 2. I primarly used only 3 of the vigors, Fire, Lightening and Possession (I thought the other variants useless tbh) and swapped between 4 different weapons, depending on the situation I was in, or if I was out of ammo for the particular gun I was using...

I stuck with my rifle and sniper rifle using only possession on the vending machines and started using shock when it had its chain effect. There was never any need for me to improvise on my tactics of shooting everyone in the head and possessing the patriots. The best parts of the game was everything outside of the combat.

No, true...the combat isn't the games strongest point, but I did find it fun, especially when battling on the airships with enemy all around...the world is something to behold and of course the story...

I used my BOOMSTICK, Carbine, Machine gun and Repeater....Lightening was my most used vigor...

I finally installed and started playing last night. Epic so far and I haven't even found the girl yet.

One question: If I minimize the game and leave it minimized for about 5 minutes while doing other stuff on the desktop Bioshock force closes. Why?

Irrational finally get around to admitting that Bioschlok was an insult to the glory of SystemShock... for the sake of pandering to console-jockeys...

3 cheers for Ken and his realisation that he can do better...
