I sent a few gifts. People are starting to feel like they owe me but I'm ok with sending stuff that will be played amongst friends.

Well the final day of the summer sale and it seems I am happy with what I got... even if I got more than I wanted.
I'd say I have spent $60 on stuff I wanted and another $30 on crap I dont really care for. Good news for those game studios that I wouldn't have bought anything from.

Somehow, I managed to get through the entire Steam sale without buying a single game, no matter how much I wanted it.
Sad truth, with my working 7-days a week, I'll never have time to play said games.

Means you can buy something you want and have time for. No need to look to specials unless you see something you want and wait until the next steam sale.

I picked up SPAZ, The Longest Journey, Sandbox Universe, and EYE: Divine Cybermancy for me and a friend.
Now I need to resist the urge to buy Fallout: New Vegas......and Tropica and Expendable on GoG

I 1 hour 30 minutes we are freed again from the curse of the summer sale! But not even 6 months later we will need to prepare for the Xmas sale. May those wishlists be long by that time and the wallets as fat as turkeys!

So yeah its steams autumn sale heading into summer. Turn up the heat with XCOM enemy unknown for $34 or get the dead walking in the walking dead for $12.50.
Flash sales makes a return. For new steam buyers my recommendations is that if a game is on front page sale at 50% or more off then get it. If its something on the entire catalog wait until the last day to see if it doesnt become a quick sale item.

I have Skyrim Dawnguard and really enjoyed it. Go for that! Not too long but the vampire thing and extra armour you can make is really nice. Besides you get a new female companion

+1
We all know how pre-existing IP usually turns out for gaming...
I wonder if I should get Hotline Miami... looks a little too violent.

If I had to choose I'd have gone for the Walking Dead over Dawnguard and wait for Dragonborn instead. But that said Dawnguard has gear and skills integrated through the entire Skyrim while Walking Dead is around 2 hours of gameplay each episode.

Steam has officially launched its Big Picture feature. In celebration of this they are having a launch special with some games that are best played with a controller in mind.

Valve wasn't, gamers were. There has been some discussion around with maybe they should just release a box that syncs with your PC and allows you to play on your TV but even that is not valve. The only thing Valve has announced is that they are looking into Linux. This would give them freedom from Windows and microsoft. But no idea how they will translate Direct X.

A month passed and no one bothered updating this thread saying there was a sale on? Unbelieveable!
Anyway the Christmas/winter/summer sale is past and for the next 2 days they are having an encore sale.
Yup if you missed the sale for whatever reason here is what you can get for the next 24 hours:
Batman Arkham City GOTY - $7.50
The Walking Dead - $12.50
Torchlight 2 - $10
THQ catalog - $25
Dishonored - $30
XCOM - $34
Skyrim - $30 (although if you have not played the game yet then shame on you!)
And others.

Exactly, which is why if you don't own them already you shouldn't shame yourself by mentioning it here.
That's a great deal though

Anyone have any idea when System Shock 2 will be appearing on Steam?
Well that's just super.
