Well in the last week of testing I decided to change a few stuff. Some shaders and lightmaps weren't working so lekker and some alpha textures weren't doing what they were so suppose to do so I change the textures. And this requires at least another 3 weeks. The good news is i'm making a demo version that is going to be around 40 ~ 50mb a single level with about 20min of game play.

Here some new screenshots. What do you guys think.?

Don't hurry me I'll send you the demo wih corrupt files.....and 20 patches.
oh and some thing funny happened I deleted the sounds folder by accident..as luck would have it I had a backup.

This is what my desktop looks like....Notice the chaos...lots of raw textures I still need to process. And finaly you can see what program I used for development of my game. It's not a secret any more. :D

Infact I use quite a few programs

3dmax 6
Darkbasic Pro
Milkshape 3D
Sprite and decal maker delux
Paint shop pro
And some programs I programmed my self with dark basic Pro.

Hello guys.Just a quick update....well sort of quick.

The demo is ready one or two bugs to sort out. Then I'll upload it some where for download.Should be more than 50Mb.

This will give you a rough idea of what the game is all about. But this is no where near the final product as I for see some major changes in the next 4 months.I'll explain the changes just now.

The reason for the extra delay is I have another 4 smaller projects that needs to be completed by Jan 16 2007 and Nov 20th 2006.Both these projects are for compo's(2 per compo) that I have entered. The one compo I entered is for a publishing deal and a new PC.

So I have to put in as much effort as possible and time is running out.And the other one which is less important is for a big software bundle.....which will also be a nice addition but this one doesn't require the same amount of effort and detail..but it still doesn't mean I'm not going to put in all time and effort required.

As for the major changes. This has more to do with level design than any thing else.Levels are going to stay as they are but I will be using a new approach to the levels in terms of textures and shaders. The new approach helps improve lightmapping and over all look.(I had problems with some shaders and level and light mapping leaking).

I'm going to change some decals.I will also change some amimations(will be a lot smoother than before).

So the demo which if every thing goes well I should upload it on monday morning. Please note this is not the official demo this is a beta so there might be a few bugs with the AI ect.

So see you monday.

The link to the compo wish me luck.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For this you can see my main problem light maps leaking and not blending corretly worst of all I had to disabled some shadow rendering because of a flickering bug caused by some shaders...which I still have to find and fix

Image

So the question is do you guys want the demo with small bugs or with no bugs at all.????[/list]

No bugs um er some time in year 2020. 8O

Most of the bugs are graphical errors and two AI bugs. These bugs doesn't affect the game too much.So in other words you won't have trouble starting the game.

problem is that I won't be fixing any thing till next year.....

And no I have to format my PC.....

nvidia is behind this project.!!!http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_fpscx10_home.html

Hi Guys,

X10 is going to be truely awesome, yes. It will put FPSC and DBPro users in a position where they can produce DirectX 10 games ahead of the seasoned developers, yes. It will be Vista only, yes. This however, is not what I want to talk about.

I have read almost all of this thread and wanted to shine a light into those dark fear-filled corners of the community. First of all, don't panic! Second, XP is not going anywhere for several more years, and will remain the bread and butter operating system for quite a while. Third, FPSC will continue to be updated with key fixes and speed improvements, freely available, as is our custom.

If you have assumed that Lee has stuck FPSC in a drawer, left XP users in the lurch and started coding for Vista on a whim, then you give me very little credit. FPSC has been worked on since its release over a year ago, and it is no co-incidence that DarkAI and DarkLIGHTS have been developed to be easily plugged into the engine. I returned from the NVIDIA G8800 launch on Friday, and spent the whole weekend fixing FPSC bugs for V104. I will continue in this manner until I have answered all the concerns of current FPSC users. I want a solid FPSC more than you guys!

BenjaminA & Bloodeath666 : Please email me directly with the urgent FPSC bugs you mentioned to lee@thegamecreators.com. Let us see if we can make V104 work for you guys

Doughboy : Sorry you have to go. Good luck with your future projects, thanks for checking out our stuff!

[anyone with showstopper FPSC bugs] : Please email me directly at lee@thegamecreators.com with as much information, screenshots and FPM levels as you think is required for me to reproduce your issue and solve it for V104!

A final thought about the current FPSC. Why would we stop maintaining our XP tool that took us three years to write, sold only for one year, which now has an expanding collection of model packs and a thriving community of game makers behind it? Why would we exchange that for a Vista community that does not even exist yet, where the equipment demands force only an elite following and is widely accepted as a year away from popularity? The answer, as stupidly obvious as it might seem, is that we won't stop developing for it! Not until we feel most of you are happy with the product.

So now you are happy in the knowledge that FPSC is in good hands, you probably want the inside story about this thing we call X10?

X10 is basically the working-title for our drive to upgrade our internal engines to DirectX 10 and Vista. I could bore you to death with the vast array of technical reasons why DX10 is so mind bogglingly great, but instead I want to highlight some of the benefits to you of our X10 plan:

hardcore users:
- you will be able to make Vista games before anyone else
- you will be one of the first to produce DX10 content
- there are features on a DX10 card than are totally exclusive
- be an innovator in a brand new territory - so many opportunities
- whatever you make will look better and run faster (by default)

casual users:
- by the time you upgrade to Vista, X10 will be well tested
- you will enter a community that has established advice for you
- most new machines will ship with Vista next year (+cheaper dx10)

We have a strong team, and are absolutely dedicated to making our software easy, affordable and fun. Thanks to the incredible dedication of the TGC community, we continue to work under your creative tyranny. Keep on posting guys!

Sounds neat...

Its a tricky situation. Each side has its pros and cons. You could postpone the whole project at least 6 months, upgrade it to dx10 and make sure it runs great. By then alot of people will have dx10 cards, hopefully. It depends how motivated you are.

Well here is a small teazer video I'm not sure on the video codec you should have but should work fine with windows media player.

Well still alot of work is needed but it's starting shape up nicely.I have desided to use one of the demo levels of this game for the nvidia compo.
