Power saving - monitor does not switch off

Post by Barrymore »

I had this problem with my old PC running XP. I now have a new PC with Windows 7. Same problem - power saving options set for the monitor to switch off after 30 mins but this is not happening. Also, the background picture "was" set to change after one week but it never changes. When I check the settings it indicates that it is set to change after one day.
Anyone experienced this type of problem?

No, I haven't actually. Is it a totally new PC with Win7 that you're running, new monitor and graphics card included?

It sounds like two issues:
1) Monitor not turning off for power-savings,
2) Background picture not changing.

1) Have you tried a different monitor to see if it turns off?

After messing around with the settings and selecting the default "landscapes" pictures, for the first time the picture had changed when I woke up the monitor this morning. Also, the monitor is now switching off, although not at the selected time intervals.
