smp is a client that uses all the cores on your pc to increase the productivity of your system exponentially. with a uniproccesor client you might get 200~300PPD with SMP you can get ~2000PPD with a low clocked dual core or you could get ~3500PPD with a low clocked quad core

From what I've read, guys using Vista have had better luck getting both SMP and GPU to run together, Vista seems to use less CPU for the GPU client, so you should be fine

everyone gather round, its time for an update

>So it looks like Furion may take my crown (eventually, you take your time  ) as I've temporarily stopped folding due to family staying with us... so for the next 3 days I will only be folding on my girlfriends pc which means my PPD drops from ~10k PPD to ~1500PPD. But at least I'll have something to chase.

> I'm glad to see that we're still still whittling our way up/down the grid getting closer to 800th spot. Thanks to everyone for their support in that.

> Fluffmonger(please introduce yourselves) and Mow have joined the team and both are doing very well so far.

> There are quite a few milestones coming up that should hopefully bring excitement and competitiveness into the team

Other than that please just keep folding and if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask, we're here and willing to help

So guys

As some of you may have seen, I have personal stats in my sig.... No, we're not in the top 800 yet, but for some reason we have personal sig stats... I'm not complaining though.

To get them add this to your sig

Code: Select all

Where *Username* is your username that you fold with.

Other than that cool discovery, nothing much has changed I'm afraid :(

yeah, as much as I try to stay 1st, it seems I'll become 2nd eventually. Although I have this habit of continuously checking the folding stats and managing to pull back the lead just before I lose it  I also suffer from competitiveness which I lack in all other areas so pretty much I can't stop folding as much as I need to for a short while... like reinstalling an OS

Have you all noticed the speed at which ron and halo are folding at? halo is a friend of whom i asked to join our team. he is doing amazingly well..And so is ron...(not that i know him personally. but ronny is folding like a titan. hehe)

Lets keep the folding going. soon we will break into the top 1000. out of over 150k teams? thats pretty good going in my book.

Why are people stopping folding, we have just broken into the top 1000. I use the name DarkLight748, I have just accelerated my PPD. 1 x ATI GPU, 2 x Nvidia GPU and 1 SMP, I might get round to getting my PS3 (which I only use as a blu-ray player) folding.

PCF team will be starting soon... as soon as I setup all the PCs. Thats 5 PCs in total including a AMD Phenom II 955 and a Core i7 965 EE

My work PC is now folding. Intel Core 2 Extreme 9770 @ 3.2GHz and a ATI HD4870

When I get home I will setup my home PC, I'll be getting ADSL soon so I will be able to leave it connected and working the whole day.

Okay, so far I have two of the machines folding.

My PC and the AMD test rig. Both are running the x86 and GPU versions of the game. The AMD test rig is using a HD4870X2 so that should pump out the WUs
