HP Server Power Issue

Post by Koko_Lion »

Here a real head scratcher!

Got an HP Proliant Server running Server 2008 R2

The problem is with the power up. Or when it does power up runs for a bit a crashes with the red heart beat light flashing red.

Have logged the problem with HP 5 times and have had 3 technicians call out. They have swopped mobo, psu, cpu and ram. Disconnect all unnecessary drives, expansion cards and audio, usb etc. Problem remains. Removed the drives and reinstalling the server on another drive, no luck. Have also had the server on 2 differant ups's. On direct power and at differant locations.

At the moment I am running 3 passes of the HP Insight diagnostics full tests. Will hopefully find something out of that.

Any ideas from anybody. HP are really frustrating me. Also the unit is under warrenty till 2016. Anyway I can just get them to give me a new full server and turn this one into a boat anchor?

Regards

Have you checked the IML and iLO logs for any errors?

Swapping out the mobo, psu's, RAM and drives basically replaces most of the server. Strange.
