6970 crossfire?
Hey guys
Quick question, is there anyone out there that has crossfired 2 Radeon 6970's? I have one and curious of adding another. I would like to know what your experiences has been with this setup and whether it's a thumbs up of thumbs down verdict.
The reseach I've done so far indicated it's kinda hardcore, uber and amazing. So hopefully the feedback here will also be of the same nature.

Don't feed the troll.
Your card is good stuff, I can only guess that more = better. Though that's not what your wallet might think.

Re: 6970 crossfire?
Is your psu gonna cut it and do you have a 120hz screen? Personally to me its a waste to go for a 2nd high end card if your fast past the screens refresh rate. But again I am an perfectionest/elitist/hardcore gamer so to me it doesnt make sense to me to go for the extra power if you cant see it. As with my current situation my cards in sli mode is already giving me more fps than my screen can handle.

Re: 6970 crossfire?
Lol Hman, sometimes my credit card has a mind of its own. Sometimes it jumps out and does the oddest things.
In my mind too i always related more = better. Except when it comes to females and weight
Bottom line is with my new pc i wanted something uber and fantastic so i can enjoy all games at high resolutions. Maybe it would be wiser to wait a bit till the games get very demanding and throw in another. Maybe by then the price would also be more forgiving also.
Starbound, i have a 750w psu. According to websites they say 2x6970's use close to 600w. So im not sure how much power the other components use and whether i'll have enough juice to run it.

Re: 6970 crossfire?
Research that properly, if you just go by the wattage you may be found wanting.RiddickJhb wrote:According to websites they say 2x6970's use close to 600w. So im not sure how much power the other components use and whether i'll have enough juice to run it.
You also have to work out how many amps are required, and how many your card can push thru it's rails.
Also, modifying the phase variance on the flux capacitors will be essential.

Re: 6970 crossfire?
It all depends on the flux capicitor and it relativity to the fluid flow in the phase array shifter. Even if the trans-time modulator becomes unstable the flux capacitor can carry the load without distortion in the jump field.
Re: 6970 crossfire?
Wormhole Extreme has been removed due to phase variances in the flux capacitor banks that could lead to a portal to Xen.

Re: 6970 crossfire?
Wow, i have no clue what that means.
If needed i'll buy a 850w psu.
But i did research my fact thoroughly. According to various sites it states it needs from 500w to 600w.

Re: 6970 crossfire?
Dude, I'm posting this on my phone so I can't grab links for you right now. Go check out reviews of the 6990 where they've compared CF'd 6970s. The CF'd 6970s are a better value proposition with a tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny smidgeon less performance than a single 6990. Translation: Go for it!!!
HOWEVER, first get yourself another two T260 monitors so that you can run games with Eyefinity. Slap up three widescreens in portrait mode and see if it makes a difference to your gaming experience...
