unboxing the asus gtx 560 ti

Post by The_Jelly »

hey guys! got my new gpu's!
Went for the Asus gtx 560 ti Direct Cu II 830mhz core version.....
here are some pics....

Packaging:

Contents:

Card in its holder:

Cards:
Image

and finally Cards installed:
Image

My thoughts on the cards:
Pro's:
packaging is pretty good.
overall build quality is very good.
Cards are reletively quiet if they stay below 30 percent fan speed.
cards run cool provided there is sufficient spacing between them.

Con's
cards do get loud after 40+ percent fan speed.
cooler could have been fastened better and sturdier...

as for performance....

3dmark 11 scores:
1 card---------------------------: Gpu Score: 3950 Physics Score: 9426 Overall score: P4327
1card + 2nd Card as PPU------:Gpu Score: 3957 Physics Score: 9480 Overall score: P4337
2 cards in sli 8x,8x-------------:Gpu Score: 7869 Physics Score: 9320 Overall score: P7846
2 cards in sli 16x,16x----------:Gpu Score: 7951 Physics Score: 9481 Overall score: P7914

as you can see not much difference from 8x to 16x..... all test cards were run at stock clocks of 830mhz....

DaRoooooool!

Wow that's sick actually and thanks for posting the Physx setup with SLi-Seems SLi is the business.

If I lend you my 250GTS can you do an SLi with Physx setup test? LOL

What did it cost + who was the supplier.

StarBound, how does this compare to your sli setup?

My cards are closer and I have a P55 board so I only get 8x/8x not 16x/16x like the tripple channel i7s. Also spacing between my bottom card and psu is less because I have my xonar right under the card. So my 2nd card gets much hotter.

I dont have 3d mark vantage.

Supplier was The prophcey Shop. I do 90% of my orders through them because of their awesome service!
http://www.prophecy.co.za/asus-nvidia-g ... 88492.html
The gigabyte cards are really awesome too! but are clocked higher(900mhz) so he should get slightly better scores...

The way my cards are now they idling at 32C (top card) 30C (bottom Card) i still need to establish load temps but will post some temps soon.... as u can see bro not much in it for 8x,8x vs 16x,16x. how much hotter is it making the second card bro?
my case and mobo made it a perfect combination for sli.... as u can see in the pic above i have a huge gap between my cards, and in that config its running at 16x. asus put 1st pci-e slot at 16x, 2nd at 8x, 3rd at 16x and 4th at 8x.
i used 3d mark 11 bro not vantage....
i also have a 120mm fan blowing in from the side right in beween the cards, and that bottom 140mm fan blowing air into the gpu... so cooling and spacing worked out awesome!!!

I am also jealous at the cabling work. Suppose my case could have been done the same but too lazy.

My load temps are 65C and 75C per card. My single card gets 60C under load. I chose my board for its layout aswell. I needed an extra pci-e 1x slot for the xonar. My board is x16, pci, pci, x8, x1, x1 if I am not mistaken.

shot starbound! loads of patience to get it like that bro! an thanks to my girlfriend today its neater!

just ran 3dmark 11 now both cards stressed at 99% load hit temps of 70c (top card) 66C (bottom card)... so temps are similar but under a stress test these temps will rise... and your cards being clocked slightly higher would prob have a lightly higher voltage so ur temps are better than mine....

i love it when u plan things proper like that! and love it even further when they work out better than expected! u have a mad setup there starbound! i want ur SSD!

Indeed. I wanted a i7 socket 1366 but I couldnt afford it so I would have settled for a i5. The morning I ordered I got told there is an i7 860 and I decided to go for that instead. As for the cards they are just as good as my 5870 and performs better in SLI than the 5870 did in xfire.

Hehe. My system sits in a corner and the lighting is bad so you can never see whats in the box unless I take the effort to move the case around and unplug cables. As for my scores http://forums.pcformat.co.za/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=39447 but note it was done with driver version 266.67 and the new nvidia drivers has done some major improvements. If something ran really crap it now runs a good deal faster otherwise its about a 5-10% increase.

I believe the latest nvidia driver version is up to date with all sli profiles. Personally I dont mess around with settings. I just go to the sli options, set performance, get sli enabled and leave it like that. Profiles themselves I change depending on my game. Eg borderlands I enable tripple buffering and vsyn.

Oh okay awesome! thats what iv done jus wanted to make sure there wasn't something i was missing... my 3dmark vanatge keeps crashing on the jane nash test(test1) but if i skip that test it runs perfect through the rest.... iv tired 1 card and both in sli and i get the same issue? is it driver related? nothing else crashes, all games and 3dmark11 work perfectly....

U need to get that case soon bro.... Smiley u must check what we did to his case. cause the cooler was too high to fit into his case, the side cover obviously wouldnt close. so Slim came to my house, we got the dremel and grinder out and we cut a sqaure in the side panel just big enough for his cooler too fit into.... looks pretty rustic hahahahaha!!! desperate times call for desperate case modding.... love it....
