Im open to any 22" LCDs. BenQ included like I stated in my first post.

Maybe I will just bite the bullet and buy a 24" Dell.

Thanks. Im just worried that the Dell will crunch my 8800GTS with games like Oblivion and Crysis etc.

In the end as long as I can play Test Drive Unlimited and GTR2 ill be happy.

Hman. I tried them on the Samsung 226BW which is a great screen but they dont have stock. Why the hell do they even advertise it when they dont have stock. They claim they sold out country-wide over the weekend. What a load of **** if you ask me. Im not a fan of the Acers. They load the prices a hell of a lot. Ive seen the dealer price on that screen.

That's why I say you can probably get it elsewhere. Looks like my 19" only it's a wide 22".

Which Dell you looking at?? I see they have the 27 and 24 inch dell's on the site. But R8k is a bit steep for my liking.

The 24"

Might be able to pick one up for a good price.

Im thinking it might be worth it but games at 1920x1200 might just be too much for a 8800GTS

Hmm, well if you would want a really good 22" widescreen id reccomand the one im using now (Packard Bell Meastro 220 Wdv) Its rather expensive though, its R4K and only found at Incredible Connection.

If you can afford the Dell 24" then go for it! :P :D If the games do start to lag then maybe sell your 8800GTS and get a GTX? Or maybe get an 8900 once they are released?

What I find a bit ironic is that with the DX10 cards, they are soo powerful and all, yet still certain games might lag on certain resolution. It makes the DX10 cards look "weak" :P

Hmm, if they use the smae panels would the colour and all be the very similar if not the same? :? I havent seen the BenQ but heard loads of excellent stories about it. I saw the Accer and IMO it looks terrible. Unless some kid was playing around with the colours and all before I saw it at Incredible Connection? :? :P

maxxis - speak to rNm over at systemshock - he is using a 6600Gt wit a 24" dell 2405 - and he is managing most older games at 1920x1200 to a level where he is happy - obviously not at highest detail levels with lots of AA/AF - but dialing it down isnt a trainsmash really - besides the dell supports 1:1 pixel mapping so you can play at resolutions besides for native resolution mapped to 1:1 - so for example at 1280 x 1024 you will have a black border between the frame of the monitor and the gaming viewable surface

the GTS will handle al l of that without breaking into a sweat - so if you really can afford R7800 that the dell should cost you - heres what Nicole said over at Sytemshock

For those interested in buying the Dell :
Contact Michelle_Hart( at )DELL.com
She quoted me R6785.00, plus R115.00 freight, plus R966.00 VAT.
Total = R7866.00
I saw the Accer and IMO it looks terrible. Unless some kid was playing around with the colours and all before I saw it at Incredible Connection?
remember that the acer and benq would look similiar cos they are the same panel - IC probably had the monitor at defaults - you have to play around with those until it reaches a level you like - the more playing around the better yo can get it - until you happy with it - so if you like the silver frame the acer wouldnt be bad - but the benQ's definitely look awesome in the black and cheapish in the silver - so its all down to personal taste - but to be honest the fact that the benQ's are sold out countrywide should speak volumes about how seriously good for the money that this monitor is - and lots of people are now waiting for the next batch which should be arriving in a month or two

I'm thinking about going big. I can't stop dreaming about the iCinema 30" or the HP 30". Perhaps a 22" is a more sensible option though :D

Thanks naughty.

Im still in 2 minds about it.

Lets see what happens. At 1920x1200 AA becomes less important.

Ill wait a little bit and see what happens when all the companies get stock again.

sadly both of those only have dvi and vga inputs - no composite or component or maybe even a few hdmi for good measure

its seeming for the multimedia buff wanting a large monitor with okay resolution in a huge size with more inputs than you can shake a stick at is the 37" westinghouse which seems cheaper than both of those apple or Hp or dell 30" monitors

also the res is a more graphics card friendly 1920x1080 even for pc usage - but thats absolutely perfect since the native res is the current highest spec for HI-DEF sources
