Re: GFX card dead?
It doesn't make sense, very strange fault indeed. Try playing around with your onboard graphics and see if it happens when using that. Have you ever overclocked your gpu?

Re: GFX card dead?
I doubt its the gpu, because your monitor would most likely show a "no signal" message. I could be wrong but the first thing that comes to mind is a setting you're missing somewhere, either in the monitors settings, or in power saving settings in windows. If its a hardware fault it doesn't make sens...
Re: ATI 6790
Unfortunately 1400 doesn't get you much but as starboiund said a gtx460 will do nicely, it'll play most games with maxed out graphics but not all. And your cpu won't be bottlenecked by the new gpu:)

Re: sound card confuses speaker output with microphone input
I've never played around with my audio like that so I'm afraid I won't be of much use, I could offer ideas... Depending on what software you're using, you can assign ports to any audio function so perhaps see if there's a default setting. Or go into the sound control and right click your speakers an...

Re: Vodacom BIS Cap Introduced
I'm using A BB right now, its A 8520 curve that's doesn't pick up edge in Pinetown so I use GPRS. All images are downscaled and my phone has a 5MB download cap on it. I surf the web everyday and I seriously doubt I come close to 100MB. So the normal 3G users won't even know About the "cap" because I...

Re: First gaming rig - which graphics card?
It must be an i5 750? 760? But that's not too important to us because at least we know that the cpu won't be bottlenecked... However we need to know how big the psu is. 500W? 600W? If it is too small then you won't be able to power your gpu. So if your psu is About 550W - 600W you will be safe regar...

Sorry about the capital A's Stuart:) my phones A button is broken. But I've found a way to use lowercase A's now.
For a casual gaming rig the 6770 is fine. If you want something a bit better consider the HD6850, it will run all of your games at max res

Re: First gaming rig - which graphics card?
Welcome to the forums:)
As Ron sAid, it depends what the rest of your rig is like becAuse you could end up getting a greAt grAphics card but if the rest of the rig is too slow you will end up cAusing a bottleneck in your system.

NvidiA doesn't scale too well with AMD, so I would suggest a 6850. Or A 5850 if you cAn find one for A decent price

That looks good bro. But if you're planning to upgrade later then you might as well save a lil bit longer and buy the i5 now. Because An i3 isn't gonA sell for much

No dude your cpu is 100% percent. I wouldn't worry about it. Id trust the software over the bios. If my bios temps were right my cpu would probably be fried by now

Re: Need help with i7 2600 temperatures
Well I usae core temp. And I have a sidebar gadget to go with it. So my cpu usage and temps are displayed on my desktop. you can try another program to give you peace of mind but it should be the same. My bios tells me 51, where its actually 33. I've never taken note of my bios temps before:)

Re: Need help with i7 2600 temperatures
I haven't heard of cpus getting too hot but I could be wrong. Google it and see if other guyas have had an overheating cpu.
Your method should work, when you took your cooler off was the paste spread evenly?
I apply TIM like I butter a slice of bread:)

That's about the right rpm. My cooler idles at 20% which is 1138rpm. Temps vary between 27 and 35. How much paste do you use? And how do you apply it?

Re: Need help with i7 2600 temperatures
The bios temps aren't 100% accurate but its not 40 degrees wrong either. I'm guessing your using the stock cooler? Take your cooler off and put it back onto the cpu. Making special care that its sitting flat and tight against the cpu. Check ther temps again. If you still have problems then buy yours...

Re: whats the best LGA1155 mobo under R1600???
Thats a pretty good deal Stig!! As everyone has already mentioned, do you plan to overclock? What GPU are you going to be running? Will you be going SLI or Xfire? The Asus P8P67 boards are awesome and look amazing, stick a 2500K inside and you got yourself a monster! Or go with H67 and use the cpu's...
