Re: The Cricket Thread
I think the bowling is the area in which we'll miss him the least, but having said that, he was a good partnership breaker. At the end of the day, SA is going to feel the pinch without him any which way, so they just have to make do. Personally, I'd bring in Ryan McLaren at seven, move Faf into the ...

I'd pre-ordered it, but I'm glad they've scrapped it. I just bought it out of pure desperation for a cricket game.Anakha56 wrote:First time I am hearing of it. I still laughed when I read about another cricket game being pulled on launch:

Don Bradman Cricket 2014
Is anyone else extremely excited by this? After the crap Ashes series, including the 'no show' of Ashes Cricket 2013, this could be just what all the cricket lovers need. I've already pre-ordered mine from Kalahari. Wikipedia page tmtW4cAOgLo 79wMHoq2yVA There will also be a helmet cam, putting you ...

Re: The Cricket Thread
There may be a glimmer of merit in his thinking, but it's wishful thinking to imagine that any test-status team in the contemporary cricketing climate could get away with playing only one format. I'm afraid in today's cricketing world, that is not any kind of possibility. Boycott was a run machine ...

Re: The Cricket Thread
Depends on what you want to accomplish. Look at South Africa. Sure, they haven't been fantastic in ODI and T20 cricket over the last two years, but they're slowly getting into the groove again and have been playing well of late. England's problems have nothing to do with them playing too much ODI /...

Re: The Cricket Thread
I think England can stop playing cricket now. They couldn't take the last wicket with more than 50 runs still in the bank and then Bresnan goes and bowls short in the last over with Australia just needing 12 to win.

Re: The Cricket Thread
I hope you guys watched the Ram Slam T20 game between the Cobras and Titans. One of the most epic finishes I have seen, funny how things can change in the matter of seconds. Still a fan of Parnell but he is way to erratic to back in the final over. I'm more worried about the state of umpiring as a ...

I would pick Johan Botha over Robin Peterson every single day of the week and twice on Sundays. Robin Peterson IS NOT test cricket material.

Re: The Cricket Thread
All I can think is that having an extra batsman is more important to the selectors than having an actual spinner. Peterson is effective as a bowler when batsmen are attacking him and getting themselves out, but pretty useless otherwise. But he can bat. Tahir should certainly be given more of an opp...

Re: The Cricket Thread
I'm inclined to agree that Australia has the best attack in world cricket at the moment. You might think that sounds crazy, but although we may have the two best bowlers in Steyn and Philander, we can't match Australia for balance and depth. Apart from Johnson, Siddle, Harris and Lyon, just look at ...

Re: ATI... erm, AMD vs nVidia!
This has got nothing to do with graphics cards. AMD is supporting a product very similar to G-Sync that requires no add-on modules and costs nothing. I'd say that's a very good move on their part. The only question is whether this actually gets developed further. And that is where the problem lies....

Re: ATI... erm, AMD vs nVidia!
Not to diss AMD but they aren't entirely on the same level when they compare to nvidia for graphics. I've had the here and there better ATI experience in the past and when you look at the highest level of cards nvidia has a bit more to offer. This has got nothing to do with graphics cards. AMD is s...

Re: ATI... erm, AMD vs nVidia!
Perhaps. What I'd really like to see nVidia implement is SLI directly over PCI-E. That really helped improve AMD's micro-stuttering. I think a combination of the two would really do wonders for frame latency.StarBound wrote:If the frames are output as its done it might also remove the micro stutter effect.

Re: ATI... erm, AMD vs nVidia!
Shadowplay and twitch support is somewhat of a game changer but now add gsync and your changing the playing field once more. I like the idea of the technology but I'm wondering about the inconsistancies. If the tech work like it says it does then SLI might just become something I will look at again...

So... for as long as I have watched cricket, Kallis has played it, but no more. He had at least one more year of test cricket in him, but I wonder: Would I ever have been happy for him to retire?
