Re: Advice on tv tuner cards and Media centre PC's

for some strange reason I got directed to Sapphires home page and not the product page... for any one else who has this, the product is the SAPPHIRE HD 4650 1G DDR2 PCI-E anyway. The 46xx would be a better choice if you hope to use this as a second/LAN pc. I think they "are the"/"stri...

Re: Anybody attempted a Linux From Scratch project?

I don't see how a LFS project will cause you to learn linux any more than using linux everyday for work, play and entertainment. I personally use linux at home and at work and yes, there are things I don't know, but if I do ever need to know them then I will learn about them. Installing linux from co...

Re: SLAX install to HDD

If the above ^ is true then I'm interested in why, as with Slackware (Slax' base) theres no real reason to reinstall. Unless you intend to use this cd to install Slax on about 50 pc's where you don't want to sit in front of each one and configure then all

Re: SLAX install to HDD

I'm still confused, do you want to create a live cd that can install or just a cd where you insert it and it installs automagically or do you want to just install it straight off the cd as though you were copying the live cd onto your hard drive?

I'm failrly sure guys will write scripts that when run will create pupils for them as its the easiest way to get experience. The extra load on the server probably causes the server to topple over as they didn't plan for abnormal internally generated load

the 8600GT isn't that bad, I have one in my girlfriends pc and she plays COD4 and CSS with us. Running at 1280x1024 the card runs different games with varying settings. I'd suggest trying to either get more RAM or cutting down to 2xRAM stick (not sure how much you have besides 3x DDR2). Also try cle...
