Re: PCI-E 2.0
Thankyou!
PCI-E 2.0
I am looking for a good motherboard for my new setup and have been wondering about the need for PCI-E 2.0. The motherboard I want to get is the ASUS P5KC IP35, which has 2 DDR3 and 4 DDR2 slots, as well as two PCI express X16 slots. I'll be running the GeCube ATI Radeon OC Edition HD4850 1GB. Should...

That is a bit harsh, but I have come around a bit. I will probably be getting the Sapphire 4850.I34z1k wrote:Nope Kalster is just an idiot
4870 owns for the price you pay. I'm STILL using one. Haven't kept a gfx for this long for quite a while.

Re: How does my new PC stack up?
Thanks GDI_Lord! Good post with good tips. I'll have a look around. I normally format my PC every six months or so, but the quad core would be more future proof. I am also still not very fond of Vista, but I'd like to experience some DX10 graphics before I make up my mind about that. So maybe I'll g...

8800 GTX 768 mb vs 9800 GTX+ 512 mb vs HD 4850 512 mb
I guess that's fair! I am just not a big fan of ATI, but if 'ol Chuck can get a good ATI for a better price, there's nothing wrong with that.WiK1d wrote:

Yeah, that is a good price, but then you could get a similar performing GeForce 260 GTX for about the same price....

Re: 8800 GTX 768 mb vs 9800 GTX+ 512 mb vs HD 4850 512 mb
Ok, I see the old 8800 GTX beats the 9800 GTX+ by a few fps, but that is probably only because of the extra memory needed to run Crysis at 1920 * 1200 with 4* AA. Will you be running your games at those resolutions? The 4870 is much more expensive though, no?

The 9800 GTX+ will probably blow the older 8800 GTX out of the water. ATI has pretty much always been disappointing and would also not come close to the 9800 GTX+.ChuckNorris wrote:Now Wik1d is swaying me back to the 8800 GTX!!

Re: How does my new PC stack up?
Thanks for the replies! I am wondering about whether 2 Gig ram would be enough for playing games in Vista? Yeah, Tomshardware is a cool site, but they don't have a review of the Leadtek 9800GT specifically. You see, from what I have read, Nvidia apparently gave the companies permission to flash thei...

Re: onboard LAN cannot get IP address from router
Have you tried resetting the router to original settings and then setting your network card to obtain IP automatically? Forgive me if this is too obvious.
