Re: So it's been a LONG time. How have your lives changed?

The other bit of news that I didn't add earlier: courtesy of my younger sister (who some of you have met), I'm now an uncle to three... well, the only word to describe them is "monsters". Monster #1 came along in 2014, and is a total brat. Monster #2 came along in 2015 and is the sweetest,...

Re: SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)

It seems like there are three possible actions that countries are taking: Full national lockdown: shutdown freedom of movement within the country and close national (and even state) borders. Chosen by New Zealand, China, Hong Kong Taiwan, and now South Africa too. Partial lockdown relying on social ...

Re: English Spam Thread and General Rubbish

Anyone else unable to edit their profile? Ron2k is working on it. Thought he had a fix but sadly not - will continue when he wakes up. Ah cool. Good to know. Thanks Ron. 😊 Yeah, there's an overzealous security rule that's blocking profile updates if one has the website field filled in. I thought I ...

Re: So it's been a LONG time. How have your lives changed?

Well my kids are all grown up. Youngest turned 18 in Jan and is in Matric. Bloody hell, they're growing up way too quickly. Amy and I still remember a cheeky primary school kid who took great pleasure in using the airport trolleys at Lanseria to "park in" a Smart car. (2014, I think that ...

Though, I do have this...

Just outside Upper Hutt, off State Highway 2 before the climb up and over the Remutaka Pass, is Kaitoke Regional Park. It was used for filming the Rivendell scenes:

I've actually got very few photos in and around Upper Hutt itself. Those will have to wait for post-lockdown.

Not sure when I'll get to go over now. Hope my friends and family will make it through the next few weeks safely. Worried about my folks. :( If this at all helps: I'm only a 3.5 hour flight away from you, Amy and I would both love to see you again (read: free accommodation), and if you have permane...

Wow. Seems like it's been a rough few years for everyone. But glad to hear you've all made it to the other side. Totally self-inflicted in our case, but we both knew what we were getting ourselves in for -- and looking back now, the end result was worth it. One of our forum members didn't. I believ...

Where do I even begin? First off: the Lurker found a Lurkette. Amy and I met around the same time that I stepped down from running this place, and got married in January 2016. Turned out to be a mini-PCF meet: DJT and freeloader were there (as best man and groomsman respectively), Prime was there (a...

New user registrations remain disabled (I won't be changing this, so don't ask), and users who were ban...

Re: PC Format’s shutting its South African doors...

I've received the following feedback: G3AR will definitely not be shut, including the forums. Not quite sure if Panorama will allow the forums to be run elsewhere, but that’s is purely up to them. This does mean that while the forum will continue as it currently is for the time being, the move away ...

Re: PC Format’s shutting its South African doors...

I have already been in touch with Panorama, and have begun negotiations to this effect. Some points regarding comments already made: We have zero chance of getting rights to the PCFormat name/branding and, hence, domain name (these are held by PCF UK; Panorama merely holds a license to use them). Th...
