Re: Project: Supanaut (The PSU has blown and I had to replac
This mod is now Almost 5 years old and I suppose some stuff will start to break. Yesterday the PSU decided its time. It went out with a bang... This was the main system fuse by the power socket. 6A fuse... http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t90/JacobsRobin/Image0695.jpg I had to remove the PSU and w...

Re: Mecha project - Got a whole bunch of connectors
So just before lunch one of our suppliers dropped these off by our offices - for free  . My suppliers like me  . So these are going to be used in the back of the case instead of the Mobo connectors. So I would have all the cables in one place at the bottom, back of the box and look...

Re: Sata controller disabled?
I found the problem. It was a Rootkit virus. It was hiding in the MBR of the HDD and I used a tool from kaspersky to remove the cursed thing. TDSS something is what its called.

Sata controller disabled?
I am getting this problem on my my PC. I would be surfing/reading/working/playing on the PC and it would restart. There is no indication that it wants to restart nor anything weird that I have picked up that would cause this. The restart is not the worst part though. When it boots again, it takes fo...

Re: Need some modding advice
The most simplest way is to go to a pro and have them do it. BUT seeing as that is more than what one should pay for having a cut made, you can do the following: 1) Mark the area you want to cut. 2) Put on eye protection (This part is very important) 3) Take an angle grinder with a disc for cutting ...

Re: New Entertainment and Game PC
I also buy from reseller Frontosa, not retail. I also don't know if its worth waiting for the pci3.0 mobo's to launch and the new gpu's accordanly. I have decided that if I wait for something new to arrive its going to take longer than I want to wait to do my upgrade. So I'll stick with PCIe v2. It...

I just saw something on your mod I need to know about.
When you countersink the holes for the screws, do you set your drill speed to fast or slow?

Mecha project - half of the top made
I did a bit of modding this afternoon. I have to say that cutting 5mm thick aluminium is not childs play. Firstly, a Jigsaw with a metal-cutting blade causes a lot of issues. The material tend to get "caught" because of a build up on the blade it self. Secondly, Angle grinders are stupidly...

SSD Failure!
It all started with a Virus(es). Which I was subjected too 2 weeks ago. I did a boot time scan which seemed to remove all the little critters and all seemed fine afterwards. I then started noticing my Firefox was getting VERY slow. I would click on a link and it would take ages to find the page but ...

Re: My little all alu & perspex case project (fixed pics)
You could have it all tig welded. If you are in PTA I know of a guy BUT he's crap at welding and you will have to repaint. Or you could make little "patches" that you screw to the inside of the corners to fix everything together.

Re: Mecha project - Idea testing
create a magnetic attachment for the headphones? A female 3.5 mm jack attached to magnets that you can stick to corresponding magnets on the case that are attached to the MB header? You know you have the power button 'dent' at the front top of the case? Have a similar dent at the bottom with expose...

Re: Mecha project - Idea testing
Also, mount your USB and audio in the side pods? I wanted to do that at first but then a small voice told me that I am opening and closing the pods. And if I leave my headphones plugged in (like I do now) I'd damage the case and connector. Which is the reason I am in need of finding a new hidy plac...

Re: Mecha project - Idea testing
Ok celebrations are over and I have thought it a better idea to replace the thin 0.9mm thick alu with 1.6mm pieces. I need to finish marking the cut lines and will then make all the sides, except the pods, from the thicker 1.6mm sheet. One thing I still need to figure out is where to put the externa...

Re: My little all alu & perspex case project (fixed pics)
I like your idea. Its a slightly different take on the normal Plexi cases. This way though you have places to hide cables (In the corners). You could have a seriously clean build coming. Did you paint or anodise the alu?
