Re: Help with a Powerful Rig!!
Wow, best project ever. If there is no price limit, you may want to look into going dual-Xeon. Look at server hardware for the most part as it is obviously going to be the most powerful, also far more RAM bays to work with so way more RAM, obviously dual channel. Your other option is to go Intel i7 ...

Re: What you just watched and thoughts on it
First of all; in general I hate Anime. 99% of the stuff I have tried to watch I give up within 15 minutes thinking how retarded it is. However, due to immense boredom, I decided to check out Death Note, which a few of my friends had been raving about. Oh. My. God. My mind has never been so blown as ...

Re: How slow will XP running in a Linux Virt machine?
As far as I recall it does. Supports pretty much everything, as far as I am aware, as of the latest patch it even supports direct third-party graphics cards, meaning (in theory) you can use a VirtualBox XP install to play games.

Re: The reason games get a bad name
I guess there are two sides to this argument: First off, having these games out there definitely increases the risk of young kids, or immature adults (read: anyone who can't categorise the experience as "fantastical", and is unable to understand the difference between this sort of game and...

Re: How slow will XP running in a Linux Virt machine?
It depends on the amount of memory alloted to it, however on a decent machine, I doubt you would have a problem. With 2gb of RAM, I was able to run XP seamlessly integrated into my GNOME desktop (Ubuntu) using VirtualBox and had no issues with it at all, in fact it ran about as well as having XP ins...

Oh wonderful!
Thanks to these idiots, The Real Gmail won't readily be able to set up a local mirror.
I'm sorry, but "gmail.co.za" is just retarded, in much the same way fake Nikes are retarded.

What I love most about Linux is the repo system. I think it is quite possibly one of the best inventions in terms of OS usability.

Re: Top ten reasons why u should use LINUX
I am not arguing for all plebian office-biscuits to start using the Linux, what I am for is intermediate to advanced computer users to start looking into it. There are a lot of skilled computer users out there, and if even half of them gave Linux a try, it would already increase market share and sta...

Therese no issue for me with Open office. Sending someone a open office document via email for an example. if the format was incorrect then that person has to reply and say sorry i cant open your document. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to turn this into a "Winders iz beta dan linux LOL!!!!!111" flamewar thread, I'm just trying to point out that, in terms of productivity, every OS has certain flaws. Windows more so than most... Also, "being different from what I am used to" is no...

Re: Top ten reasons why u should use LINUX
I cant see that anyone can be productive using a linux desktop. Interesting, because I use a Linux desktop at work and, for some reason, I still have a job. Either I have proved this statement wrong, or I am exceptionally good at hiding my lack of productivity... Whilst the Linux kernel runs throug...

It would also be a viable way to judge a member's standing on the forum that doesn't involve a postcount. Some people may post quite rarely, however the few posts they do make may very well be Pulitzer-winning stuff (I am in no way referring to myself) causing each reader to re-evaluate their lives ...

Just a thought, I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but if not... Karma? Basically the ability to UP/DOWN users' karma based on their posts. A sort of self-regulating system wherein users are rewarded for well thought-out and interesting posts, or are "punished" for spam/OT/etc. comme...

Can I chuck in my two cents worth. Last night, whilst perusing the DRM diatribe in the Feb PCF, I thought to myself, piracy is something that affects every developer of PC games, right? So why don't they all get together and invest in a new dedicated game drive for the PC that will look like a DVD ...

Because I am already put off games because I have to sit through six Vendor logo animations, two intro movies and a gorram loadscreen.
You really think I am gonna waste my time on a game that requires me to BOOT into it whenever I want to play it?
