Re: WebAfrica enters the home Uncapped ADSL market!

That's for 6 hours out of 24 and only if they run out of capacity. MWEB throttles throughout the day. WebAfrica already throttles certain protocols to death even on their capped accounts. For example, I just quickly opened NewsBin and started to download some stuff over usenet as a trial, using my ...

Re: WebAfrica enters the home Uncapped ADSL market!

Morning folks :) Hope that I can clear some of the queries that have been posted up here. First off, give our Feedback thread a read to fully understand the AUP - it's not bad, and comparing to our competitors, we've opted for a completely transparent AUP. In light of our Uncapped launch, we'd appre...

Re: Which uncapped ISP has best shaping?

How do I access my usage on WA? You can view this via our DSL Console. Historical usage, authentication and top-ups can all be seen from here If I go over my cap, do I get throttled or do they just charge u for whatever gigs u use over ur cap? No throttling involved here. Since these are capped acc...

Re: Which uncapped ISP has best shaping?

Still waiting for you guys to bring out a competitive uncapped service. I'll come back to you guys once you do that. Big things are happening around WA :) http://forums.webafrica.co.za/showthread.php/6357-Definitely-Maybe-New-ADSL-products?p=50897&highlight=#post50897 Not sure if you guys are a...

Re: Which uncapped ISP has best shaping?

Best effort priority only takes place when the network is extremely busy.
Since we launched bandwidth prioiritisation we haven't once slipped into "best effort mode" on protocols.

Re: Which uncapped ISP has best shaping?

Fair enough. I'd then just suggest jumping from one to another until you finally settle. I really doubt you're going to find anyone who will give you wildly positive feedback on uncapped ping. Perhaps we should get our resident WebAfrican to give some thoughts. Geoffrey? I'm here!! Havn't logged in...

Hey Stu,

You've got it spot on. If you do end up capping your peak bandwidth you can top-up though, and carry on using your data anytime.

For the guys who didn't manage to grab one today, a few answers:

With yesterdays bugs, we changed the sign-up button function a bit. Only the first 30 clicks would have got through. Anything after that would have been redirected.

Re: WebAfrica Red Alert Special

Let me know if you guys have any questions. Question 1 : an "extra" 100GB of download plus ? Is this a once off thing or does it reset and for R199 we get 30GB normal usage AND 100GB of download plus EVERY month? Question 2 : Is it limited to just 384k or whatever you've got from telkom? ...

Actually, now that you mention it, I'm assuming, Jeff, that this special applies regardless of your line speed? I can't see what difference line speed would make, but stranger things have been known to happen in SA's ISP world. Correcto's bud :) If you sync at 1Mbps or 10Mbps, you'll get your line ...
