Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
I don't have one, but I have the stock desire. Comparing the two on GSMarena: * The phone is slightly thicker (almost 4mm) * SLCD screen, compared to my AMOLED * 1.5GB internal memory, compared to my 576MB * EDGE, WiFi, HSDPA all seems better on the Z * Alminium casing * 800MHz proc, compared to my ...

Re: What bank are you with?
I bank with Sub-Standard bank, and I have done so since I was in grade 11 (so about 9 years now). They hooked me with debit cards that had cartoon characters on. Mine had a superman logo. I felt like a boss. They trapped me with rubbish marketing and promises of random student discounts. My account ...

Re: Vodacom is Red
Being relatively part of Vodacom, they had their demands in terms of the websites.
It's quite sad to see that we had our website ready and running with the new red logo's while the www.vodacom.co.za website was still showing the maintenance banner.

The bulge comes from overcharging.
I'd buy a new one ASAP, before it explodes.
Google provided me with this, which is a bit more detailed: http://www.electronicsweekly.com/blogs/ ... -up-l.html

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
Aah, shot. I'll definitely be looking for that if the issue still occurs. When I got it back the last time, things actually got worse. It started rebooting when using Wifi, playing games or with mobile data on. The guys at Leaf seem pretty convinced that it's the Mainboard that needs replacement. I ...

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
Agree with ryan setcpu seems to have made my phone sluggish more than helping. About the only thing I use it for now is temp protection, if the phone gets to 40'C the cpu gets throttled right down 325 until the temp stabilizes. @Norris did you ever resolve your reboot issue? I have a adb command I ...

Re: Firefox 4 out next month?
From what I've heard people with FF 3 installed are able to upgrade to 4.
On top of that, RC1 updated itself to 4 on saturday night or friday night (I don't remember which one).
Its safe to say its definitely out. After all these months of using beta!

Personally I don't think a certificate will be much use, especially if not underwritten by someone big, like a University. I'd go with UNISA.

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
I decided to give it one last go. I installed Cyanogen 7 RC1. Epic ROM. I've never loved a stock Android ROM until this. Fast, smooth, pretty. I also downloaded one of those GPS apps that let you soft reset them. Happy camper. Until I tried the GPS. Lets just say. I've tried different ROM's. Differe...

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
An update on my reboot issues... So I installed the 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 radio last night as well as CatLog. It seems that most ROM's recommend that radio. This morning I benched the navigation again. Set catlog to record, setup navigation and away I went. The phone stayed on for a lot longer. ...

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
Ok so I tried a couple of things... Last night I installed the latest couttes kernal. The 975 one. On top of that I installed another older radio. This morning on the way to work I tested it. About 20 minutes into the drive, reboot. Battery Temps are at around 33 degrees, at the most. I installed an...

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
@ DJV I understand what you mean. But in the case of the my other half this refresh is what she needs :). What ROM are you running? I have found my sweet spot. Insertcoin DHD Port with coutts 925_HAVS_CFS kernel and man does this thing fly. I tried going back to a normal Desire ROM but there were s...

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
Mine was rooted before the 7 days was over. I was using the stock ROM for almost two weeks, just to get used to Android. This might help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=754 The Android Dev section is usually where people post threads for their ROM's. I can't really help you t...

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
So... the other day I was saying hello to a dog and out popped my Desire and fell onto ground. Very sad I was when I discovered a scratch going across my screen :( So, does anyone have any tips on removing scratches from a touch screen? I've done research like there is no tomorrow, and I can't find ...

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
I'm running PaysHD as well. Nothing out there grabs my interest, not even the 2.3 Roms. Too much effort to change roms, and the new Sense is just stunning. I've s-off'ed my Desire. Can't say that there are any noticeable differences. I only did it because it was recommended for the Oxygen Rom. Takes...

Re: Firefox 4 out next month?
I've been using Firefox 4 since beta 1. I'll be using 4 it when it's eventually released.
As much as I love it, its clearly still a beta. In almost every one of the beta releases I've encountered problems.

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
I was not impressed by the HTC reviews I saw. I had high hopes for the Desire HD, but not with an 8 hour battery life. What exactly were you not impressed with? I did much the same when deciding on getting my Desire (non HD). Youtube reviews, article reviews, the works. 5 months down the line, I'm ...

Auto Alarm Warranty
Hello, So just over a year ago I put in an alarm system (Autowatch) which has a warranty of 24 months. Lately the doors don't lock sometimes (it's on and off, comes and goes). The issue here is, the place I got it installed (Pinetown Car Radio) closed down. I take it the warranty is with them and no...
