Recommended Car Service Centres in Cape Town?
My car (2007 Golf MK1) is way past due for a service. Can anyone recommend some places in Cape Town, or maybe just share your experiences, good or bad, with various dealers? I must confess to my lack of general vehicular knowledge, so I just need to find a place that won't take advantage of that. Yo...

Query Dbase7 DBF using linked server in SQL Server 2005
I have to import DBF files into a SQL Server 2005 db. I'm using a linked server to query the files directly, however certain files keep throwing errors at me. I've since discovered that the problematic files are Dbase7. The others are all Dbase3/5. The problem: 1. Using Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 Drive...

Hard drive speed suddenly slow - Enable Write Caching?
My games are suddenly taking extremely long to install and copying files also takes quite longer than it used to. When I enable write caching the transfer rate doubles, but there's a warning about possible data corruption blah blah. I have never changed that setting before, so I assume that it had b...

What's that game?
I remember seeing a game trailer earlier this year but I can't for the life of me remember the title. It went a little something like this: It's night There's a police car A boy/man is pursued by a zombie policeman (asian-looking, if I remember correctly) into a house. Boy/man hides in closet. Zombi...

Re: Afrikaans
The sentence is irrelevant. You see, my Afrikaans-speaking buddy laughed at me when i used the term "asem ingehaal". He said that the correct term is "ingeasem" (which sounded wrong to me, but what do I know?). I asked a bunch of English speaking ppl yesterday and they all said &...

Re: Guitar Hero: World Tour PC
Ok, despite the lack of info and stuff I took the risk and bought it for PC. It runs just peachy on my low-end rig (E7200, 2 gigs ddr 667, 9500gt top), although i have to lower some settings for some stages. You can play guitar, bass or drums with your keyboard but you cannot change the key settings...

Re: Guitar Hero: World Tour PC
I'm looking for extra info to find out if there are any bugs/performance/peripheral probs, etc. I really want the game and my PC exceeds the minimum requirements but doesn't quite meet the recommended specs. Therefore I need some user-experience advice. The fact that it has been released but has no ...

Guitar Hero: World Tour PC
Why can I not find any information for this game?
I had it in my hands yesterday at Look&Listen but I thought I'd check out some reviews first; however, nowhere on the web does it state that it's even been released. No reviews, just previews. What's up with that?
Have any one of you bought it?

Re: Possible Fake Game Purchased From Look N Listen
I bought Homeworld 2 from them early this year. It came without a CD key - had to search the net. Installed. Launch - Please Insert CD. Hmmmm... - found "patch" on the CD (AVG detected trojan, but I thought what the hell) - Installed. Launch - Please Insert CD. You leave me no choice - dow...

hello == goodbye?
Microsoft Word 2003 lists "ciao", "hi", "goodbye", "so long" and "see you later" as synonyms of "hello".
Have I been missing something for these past 21 years? Do people actually use "hello" as a parting-greeting?

I saw this on a sticker pasted at the back of a truck and it's been keeping me awake for days. WTH is it supposed to mean?

Re: Monitoring db activity/usage in SQL Server 2005
All I need to know is if the database is being used at all (for every database on a server).
I just need the most efficient way of determining this.

Re: Monitoring db activity/usage in SQL Server 2005
Ok, so I've started playing around with the profiler. What would be the best event to trace to monitor db activity? I was thinking perhaps SQL:BatchCompleted, because it records all queries made to all db's on a server; but letting it run for a week or two could result in a very big saved file/table...
