Re: Static IPs on SIM Cards
We've run into this multiple times, short of establishing your own APN you aren't going to get very far. Vodacom used to offer a service that allowed you to be on an external IP address with GPRS, don't know if they still do. Apparently most SIM card enabled devices are behind NAT firewalls for our ...

Re: SMS lingo/speak/language
Love it when that happens.
But seriously, SMSing while driving is even more distracting than speaking and driving, don't do it.

Still illegal and still affects your ability to drive. Especially if you aren't using an automatic.

The irony. These people that complain about shortening SMS's but condone driving while SMSing.

Re: SMS lingo/speak/language
It's fine to an extent, using u as you, ur as your('re) or ppl as people and other very obvious stuff is OK. But any more than that and it becomes difficult to read. I don't see the point to using the "King's English" when SMSing, especially if it's a friend.

Re: New BMW M8
I'm sorry, but a claimed top speed of 462, naturally aspirated, when the Veyron, a W16 quad-turbo makes 408? BS. I don't believe 462km/h for an instant (with those aerodynamics), but remember BMW made a normally aspirated 6l V12 that took the McLaren F1 to +- 380km/h over 10 years ago. You don't ne...

Re: Is DDR3 worth it?
Hex_Rated , Any RECENT links to support that? I don't mean 2 year old reviews on old motherboards, I mean recent stuff... The number 1 limiting factor is your FSB if you are using a C2 based system. It cannot handle the amount of data that DDR3 provides. If your FSB is only 1600Mhz (effective) and ...

Re: Is DDR3 worth it?
DDR2-800 @ 4-4-4-12 is still pretty much equivalent in speed to DDR3-1800 @ CAS???? these days for most apps. Unless you do something hectic with your PC, you won't notice a difference - maybe a few hundred 3dmark pts or 1 or 2 FPS in games. I would recommend you upgrade to DDR3 when it makes financ...

Re: The truth About Puppy Mills
In any event, Youtube unfortunately does not really qualify as a scientific foundation for proving the theory that Chimps commit murder. I concede that their has been research that points to this possibility, but as yet there is no conclusive proof that this is the case. There is most definitely co...

Yes, back in 1986, didn't know they still made them. Don't know why they want to still make them... Have you tried to use one? It's not very appealing IMO.

Re: DIY Aquarium and perspex questions
Will those pump filters work ? Best but most expensive is a power filter (it has a water pump in it), second is a box filter driven by an air pump with cotton wool and activated charcoal in and worst is a biological filter (under gravel filter) driven by an air pump. The biological filter is genera...

Re: DIY Aquarium and perspex questions
40x25x25 is only big enough for about 3 small fish, it's only 25l. It's better to have a slightly bigger tank, the fish definitely survive longer because of the stability. I had a couple of tanks and the fish in the bigger ones definitely seemed happier (not only because of the space but the water t...

Re: DIY Aquarium and perspex questions
Just make sure it's non-toxic whichever one you choose - I think an aquatic forum might be better to help you decide. I've only ever had glass aquariums, sorry. Blue LED light might upset the fish and besides that you need UV fluorescent lighting to get plants to grow and keep the fish happiest, I t...

Yup, more likely to be an OS thing than a hardware issue. To confirm, check on other keyboards if they also type backwards.

Re: I just received an Sms - Scam or actually real?
Probably a scam, but try phoning from a landline with caller id turned off. You can then get their co info and contact them through less suspect channels. Dont give any info out at all until you find out everything about them.

I know Thaba Zimbi had decent MTN EDGE coverage (because of the iron mines nearby) , I was there in December. Trying to get a cheap place in the bush with fast internet isn't going to be easy - fast internet and nature somewhat contradict each other. There are a few lodges around there that shouldn'...
