Re: Proposed meet 19th september at germiston lake
:D Yes, UJ. I'm not sure about the wood. I know you can't use it to give the cement any sort of structural strength, so i'm not sure I see an alternative way to use it. We used Biddim, High stength cement and in some of our mix, pearlite. Mr Kruger reckons that tuks has been racing the same boat fo...

Re: Proposed meet 19th september at germiston lake
Were you allowed to use wood this year? When I did this (back in 2005) we weren't allowed to use anything like wood. My team came second, after a boat from TUKS which I swear had more fibreglass than concrete, but anyway. We used perlite as coarse aggregate and cenospheres (microscopic hollow glass ...

Another nice vegetable dish to go with the braai - Buy a prepared bag of potjie vegetables from PicknPay (1kg). Put it in an oven dish with a lid. Sprinkle a generous amount of Ina Paarman's Vegetable Stock powder (a dessert spoon or 2) + some salt + pepper Pour over some cream (250ml) Bake in the o...

A nice Cabernet Sauvignon should be good with some lamb chops. Also a Merlot will work too. Or a bordeaux blend.

Re: Sunday lunch
Potato Bake is really easy, just follow the instructions, but allow more time than they tell you to, the potatoes always take longer. You can replace half of the potatoes with some butternut.

Billion BiPac 7402GXL Help needed
I bought one of these 3G/ADSL routers with the intention of only using it as a 3G router as I don't have ADSL. I set up everything with 3G as the default WAN connection. The wireless network was set up and both my PC and PS3 can connect to the router. When a router has established a 3G connection, m...

All long term civil engineering projects are overrunning their budgets due to the huge increase in fuel prices and especially steel prices which were quite unexpected. The price of steel has almost doubled in the last year. These are probably the major contributing factors to the overruns. Although ...

I have a Ballade, but I've never heard of anything like this. You say morning, so I'm thinking temperature related, as well as electrical? Sounds stupid I know, but that's the strangest thing I've heard a car do in a long time. When the car isn't moving, is it in neutral, with the motor idling or o...

I checked during lunch and the brake lights are working and the fuses seem fine. The battery poles are looking good, it was probably cleaned during its recent service. I took a drive around the block and the problem is gone, for now. But the problem was intermittant so it might be back this afternoo...

Oh gifs..... I had a similar problem a couple years ago and it started during winter. Take off your battery leads and clean your battery terminals with a steel brush or sand paper. Sometimes you get a build-up in between the terminal and the lead sockets/plugs and that creates some resistance after...

Hey gifs. Did you check if your break lights are actually working / functioning when you press the breaks. If it happens only when you press the break, it sounds like there might be a short somewhere in the break lights wiring. That's what I am thinking as well. I didn't have time this morning to c...

Strange Electrical Problem
I picked up a strange problem with my Honda Ballade. Everytime I press the brake, all electrical things goes off for a split second: i.e. the radio goes off, the gauges dip, the headlights dims momentarily. Any ideas? I will check the fuses later when I get a gap. Any other suggestions before I take...

If I go for the E8400, how do I go about upgrading the BIOS (E8400 = 45 nm technology, and the MOBO requires BIOS update to work with 45 nm technology) :?: Download the latest BIOS (I think its 1803), copy it to your flash drive - obviously after you have extracted the zip file - , restart and ente...
