What is your theory on why whales beach themselves
55 whales beached themselves at Kommetjie this last weekend. What do you think causes such events to happen? Do you think it is completely natural only, or are there other man-made contributing factors such as pollution, SONAR, etc.. This photo was taken this last weekend at Kommetjie. Does anyone k...

To let off some steam
Just a quick survery.
What games do you know of that require steam?
Do you think steam is a good thing to have or not?
Do you think it should be optional?
I know Empire Total War requires Steam, and it won't install on my PC without a huge update.
I think Steam should be completely optional.

Have you guys tried updating Steam? http://store.steampowered.com/news/2323/ It fixes the "endless update" bug. BTW, has anyone seen the game at Incredible Connection? I know they're pretty rubbish, but I have a gift card I'd like to use ;) Yes, I did that - updated to the very latest ver...

Re: Empire Total War
Aaaww... :( And I really wanted to buy the game. Previous games were excellent. Now they had to team up with steam... The ONLY game I would buy and play through steam (because I don't have another choice) is HL2 and all of its episodes (still waiting for ep3 :D ). Now I don't want this game anymore...

Re: Empire Total War
I uninstalled Both Empire Total War and that Steam crap off my PC.   I'll try to take it back to the shop - which I'm sure many people who bought the game will be doing. If they don't take it back, then I'll leave it on a back shelf until someone comes up with a patch or crack to ...

Re: Empire Total War
Interfan: What version of Steam do you have? I assume mine is the latest as it installed and then updated itself as well. Gone are the good 'ol days of just buying a game on a CD/DVD and then installing it in under 5-10 minutes.. Now we have to rely on this damned steam to be an intermediary which j...

 What Internet connection do you have? Dial Up? :P I wont avoid it, I enjoyed the others way to much :). The fastest ADSL that Telkom offers. The Steam download speed is around 70KB/s.. but it doesn't say how big it is.. It does give a percentage downloaded, but that can't be right (as stated ...

The command line patch is this...
Make a shortcut and put this in it: Use d or e or wherever you DVD drive is.
"C:\Program Files\Steam\steam.exe" -install d:
I have still not had any luck... I'm thinking of taking it back to BTGames tomorrow, but not sure if they will accept it back...
