Re: Download blocked by proxy

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, it is a no go on having my IP added to the proxy exclusion list (company policy and all that).

The proxy settings are entered correctly for all web browsers, and also under Internet Options.

It seems like this is a lost case

Download blocked by proxy

Hello everyone, I need to install an application on a PC that access the internet via a corporate proxy (with authentication). The problem is that the setup file is one of those that starts the installation, and then downloads the complete setup file from the net. It does not have an option to suppl...

Re: WaterChill CPU cooler stuck to CPU

I left the PC running for a few hours, and was able to gently wiggle the cooler off the CPU. Installed the new CPU and everything is running fine :)

WaterChill CPU cooler stuck to CPU

I want to upgrade the CPU in my PC, which is watercooled with an Astek WaterChill cooler. The problem is that I can't get the cooler off the CPU  I used Artic Silver 5 when I mounted the waterblock a year or so ago. Will leaving the PC running for a hour or so "heatup" the AS5 so th...

Core 2 Duo lga775 availability

Currently I have an E5200 CPU installed. Seeing that the i3, i5 and i7 CPUs are here in force, I want to know how long the Core 2 Duo lga775 CPUs will still be available? I want to get a better CPU before the lga775 platform is laid to rest :)

Re: Upgrade from Asus P5-AD2E Premium?

I e-mailed Landmark Computers about stock availability on the Biostar board, and was informed that it is discontinued.

My next option is now the Asus P5KPL/1600 IG31

Re: Upgrade from Asus P5-AD2E Premium?

It would seem as if the cheapest compatible CPU will be the Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 2.5GHz 2MB 800Mhz FSB LGA775 Processor.

Now my only concern is whether the WC will fit...

Upgrade from Asus P5-AD2E Premium?

I want to upgrade from my trusty old P5-AD2E Premium to something more powerful. I know with the new Core i7 tech released, it probably does not make sense to go for a LGA775-based upgrade, but the new Core i7 tech is just to expensive. I am looking for a new MB and CPU for not more than R2,5...

Re: Possible condensation?

After reading the review, it does not seem as if it will make that big a difference on the water temp in the res, seeing that the water is constantly being circulated through the loop by the pump. Maybe if it is left running for a couple of hours, there might be a noticeable drop in temp? :?

Possible condensation?

If you take an external WC reservoir, and fit it into a USB Fridge, could condensation occur inside the PC?

Tygon Tubing: Local is (not) lekker

Recently, I tried to get some Tygon tubing. Needless to say, it seemed impossible to get this tube locally. I was surprised to find a local supplier. They can supply it in rolls of 10 feet, but not to Joe Blow, only to companies with a valid VAT number. Still no problem, I thought. I have a friend w...

CD cover designer for MP3s

I am looking for a program that can create CD covers, similar to Nero CoverDesigner, from my MP3s. The track listing should be generated from the ID3 tag in the MP3, and not from the file name. Or, is there a why to (bulk) rename MP3s so that their file names are in the correct sequence for Nero Cov...

Tip: Foreign currency, buying from overseas

Recently, I bought an upgrade to ConvertXtoDVD . The default currency is euro. I decided to first see what the exchange rate on the other available currencies would be, before buying. I used XE for the conversion, and found that (at that time) to buy in euros, would work out to about R282. Of all th...
