Re: Advice on SSD's
Not quite. Indexing is a harddrive feature that saves a map table of where you files are located for faster harddrive access to files. However SSD will find what your looking for in the same time as it would take to read the index. True however if you do your homework on the very select Windows fea...

Re: Advice on SSD's
Cool Mike looks very nice! And no, there's no reason to have indexing enabled on your system reserve partiton mate Indexing in general on an SSD is by popular belief something that should be disabled due to constant write changes that it frequently makes to the drive, (potentially) limiting the disk...

And yes. Indexing along with Defrag should indeed be turned OFF when using an SSD.

Here's what I have in my laptop Mike http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?IMODULE=CT256M4SSD2 http://www.techspot.com/review/402-crucial-m4-ssd/ Exceptionally stable, great performance and got it a great price when I was over in Canada. I strayed away from Intel and OCZ SSD's as I remember ma...

Re: Call of Duty 7 Black Ops - Now with dedicated servers :P
Perhaps somebody here can assist me, I'm trying to play Black Ops Zombie co-op over LAN.. Is it even possible? Googling seem's to turn up mixed answers and opinions although I'm leaning to the fact that it can't be done on PC (At least currently anyway) I purchased the BO Rezzurection DLC awhile bac...

Re: Which uncapped ISP has best shaping?
Mike,
Ask a mate to come test his ADSL account at your place, then test the latency and speed of that account on your telkom line.
This will help diagnose whether your issue is with Mweb or Telkom
Why not post some Pingtest.net and speedtest.net screenies for us to see

LPT LaserJet
Hi all,
Is it possible to still find a Colour HP LaserJet that has LPT and can print A3 documents?
Urgently looking for one, and the main requirement is the fact it is LPT.
Afaik there's no converter adapter from USB -> LPT , only the other way around correct?
Thanks in advance

Re: Worm
Lol... Your ability to solve problems and think intelligently is obviously ZERO if everything you comes across means one should format. Grow up Jamin, read my post again, I never once said leave the worm where it is, I was just re-emphasizing that formatting for an AUTORUN infection is ridiculous......
Re: Worm
I bet a quarter of the users on this forum have some variation of the autorun.inf infection without even knowing it, I wouldn't be surprised if you do Jamin...then again I've been told you carry many A infection so I guess I should just assume it from the very beginning  Nah seriously, most de...
Re: Worm
LOL Stuart! You were hilarious in this thread Sir  Now give Mike a break lol, he's not used to your Mzansi humour  Mike aint half bad with a PC... why all you folk telling him to format for an AUTORUN worm?? God these things come and go all the time... The payload for these worms is d...
Re: CPU vcore
Find out the specs for your CPU, find the spec'd Vcore it's meant to run at, then simply drop that value with small increments until you find instability :) Once that point reaches, run a voltage that was stable.. Although like the others said, sounds like a lot of wasted time stress testing for som...

It's a good deal, go for it unless you're able to fork out more $$ for a new rig. Nuff said I believe.

Not a bad idea to buy 2 accounts mike, a 1gb account through afrihost for CSS and afrihost/axxess uncapped account?
Over R200 but otherwise just try an mweb uncapped account for a month or two, I always had excellent performance from their 4mb uncapped accounts...

You must initialize the drive first before being able to create a new partition
Right click on the drive in Disk Mgmt, it'll give you the option

Re: Asus Xonar DX sound stuttering
I have an Asus Xonar D1 sound card, very similar to the DX, anyway I have similar problems with my sound card too.. If sound skips or stutters for a second or two, chances are, the card spasms out and keeps repeating the 'stuttered or skipped' sound until eventually you restart the PC. Mostly, I've ...

Re: Your Game of the year
I haven't played SC2 myself, although I'd like to some time Strategy games pretty much always revolve around the multi player, this is what always makes them fun... Gone are the days when teams like WW created good single player strategy games, such as Red Alert, although even back then, the multi p...

You say you saw the movie 6 - 12 years ago, but do you know how old the movie was when you saw it? Maybe you are confusing Michael Pitt for someone else? Re: The Movie Thread
Maybe some one here can help me find a movie I've been looking for, for awhile now: The movie itself is oldish, I watched it maybe 6-12 years ago and is about a kid who bullies another younger group of kids (maybe 2 or 3 other kids) throughout the movie, until the younger kids decide to stop the bu...
