from what i can tell it's something to do with complex mathematical things and electronics,
i read about it on xtremesystems. a guy had a problem with not being able to use the 301fsb, but he eventually
tried 305 and it worked.

speedfan should be able to find sensors you never knew you had. it's not what you thinking, a dead spot meaning a place where the combo of fsb and memory divider on a specific multi doesn't work. try push 1 or 2mhz extra on your fsb. you are still within range of your memory frequency. how high have...

check your nb temps first, the zalman ones are good, but they need airflow

you should try 250fsb first, it might be a dead spot in your multiplier range. it happens.

you should try raise your vcore to 1.4v
that might be the factor. the nb is not likely to be
your problem.

i've had my D0 core 3.4 at 4.2 on 1.4250v, so you shouldn't need more than that.

get the latest speedfan to check all your temps.

Luckily for them they have very strong low and mid range products,
which is where the money really is.

That really sucks to see they having such a bad tape-out!
I am still behind them 100% though. If anyone can do it,
ATI can.

well the Zalman coolers are amazing, but they are heavier than the thermalright. what size case do you have, because you will have a problem fitting the 7700 if your PSu is dierctly above the mobo. you need about 2cm space. perhaps water cooling is an option for you, look at sybaritic. i looked for ...

well i'm not sure how much dry ice costs in cape town, but it should be about R200, and that will last you about one day.

this is however a kamikaze tactic that will leave you with no computer to upgrade.

I'm confused, you've moved the PSU outside the case,
where is the air flowing into and out of your case?

There is another option, but it's kinda shortlived... you need 1x soldering iron, 1x undefined length of solder wire, 1x voltmod guide. then get some dry ice, methanol, and a suitable copper pipe with the correct base and some insulation. the next step is to voltmod everything, then attach copper pi...

I think there's 2 guys on net-forums that are licensed OCZ resellers,
I'm getting some RAM from one of them, otherwise, no, not a single
other place that you'll be able to get them.

My Aopen PSU has a dual 12v rail, 18A and 19A.

The OCZ PSU's are the most expensive available, they start at R1600
excluding shipping.

Well the general consensus is that the Antec is the better PSU, I don't think you'll need more than the 380w if you're running a single graphics card and you're not running too many hard drives or overclocking a lot. I recommended the Aopen becaise they are < R400. Go for the Antec, you won't be dis...

The Antec PSu's are amazing, but if you can't afford them, get yourself an
Aopen 450w or 500w ATX2.0

I've got a 450w Aopen and i've had no problems even when overclocking.
and it's cheap.

the rule of thumb for voltage is: don't go over 1.5 volts on Vcore for everyday usage. i have mine at 1.4125v when im at 4ghz. the memory divders are a mystery to me, i can't get mine to work properly at the moment. so i just stick to 1:1, which keeps my memory speeds too slow, i want to push my RAM...

well in terms of overclocking, the asus boards are awesome, but i don't
have much experience with anything other than DDR2, so i don't know how
much you can push your system. The CPU should be good for 4ghz, but
i'm not sure your RAM will hold up at 1:1 at those speeds.

i would recommend the thermalright XP-90, but it needs a 92mm fan and it costs R362 on sybaritic.co.za. but with it you can do great things. it's the recommended heatsink for overclocking on intels. but yet again, get arctic silver, it will save your bottom. if you are seriously ocnsidering overcloc...

@Jamin: what memory timings are you using? coz i manage a 42sec on my 2.8 prescott with lamo transcend DDR400.

so far my best is 31.2xxseconds with my 3.4 running at 4gig.
need to put my water cooling onto it to get into the sub-30second club.
