When i shake it i dont go ape on it. i just turn it slowly 90o back and forth.

Put it in another machice and there's no difference. havn't been shifting big files round. lots of files (like 10Gb) but not big files.

i've defragged it and everything... even surface scan. no difference.

i've taken my ram out and put it back in again and there is still no change. it's definately not the cpu because it is just about new. if i take the harddisk out and shake it i can hear the platters turning but it sounds as if there is something else moving in there as well but is is not a rattle. I'm just guessing 20% cause it takes like 5 times longer to do anything related to the hartddisk. Say i start up MOHAA, it takes forever to load the level but once thats done it runs with out (much) problem. It can handle listening to music but music videos or trying to open my computer while playin...

I took my pc out the car, set it up and it seems the harddisk is working at 20% of what it should. I havn't noticed any data loss. Its a 40 Gb seagate hd that i bought within the last 2 years. Any ideas on what could be wrong or how i can try fix it?
