Re: SATA disk boot failure
I did take it to Rectron. They fixed it, for free, nogal! Ended up being a low tech solution to a high tech problem type of thing. There is no boot delay setting in my bios, so I would never have found it. They just set my boot sequence to check for stiffy, etc, first. That gives the new hdd the 2 s...

Re: SATA disk boot failure
Hey guys Sounds like it, is your BIOS set to do a Quick POST or the full POST? BTW, no problems with my 500GB Seagate. I think it's a full POST. It looks like it scans through everything. I can't find a setting to change the POST mode. And I have been up and down through them settings. CTRL+F1 into ...

SATA disk boot failure
Mornin all, it's been a while since I've been here. I recently got a Seagate 500GB, 32MB cache, sata hdd. I plugged it in, as a sole hdd, installed vista home premium, 32bit (letting the ide emulator take care of things). I did not use the "press F6 to install 3rd party raid driver" thingy...

Thanks guys, search paid off. It seems it has 2 errors. 2 short beeps for memory and then one short beep also for memory, I think it's to do with refreshing. If you remove the module, the error does not exist any more, so it just gives you the default 3 beep RAM error. Goodbye and thanks for all the...

Short beeps
Mornin all. Hope somebody can help. Colleague just asked me what 2 short beeps, a pause and then another short beep would mean on boot up. I'm stumped. Three short beeps would mean there's a memory problem, but they are at equal short intervals. This is slightly different. Thanks

Is Thrall OK?
Mornin All
Heard on the news that two SA contractors died in Iraq. I don't really have any other means of finding out, so I decided to post here. Does anybody know if Thrall is ok? I do worry about him there

I don't like doing this, but I feel I have to answer a religious question with a religious answer. If one believes in the Bible or any other religious scripture for that matter, one should know that these were written for fairly primitive and simple people. A lot of it is figures of speech, proverbs...

I really have to get here more often. This reading the whole thread from the start thing takes way too long. Anyway, I used to think like Leigh and a few others here. That in an infinite universe, the chance of our planet being the only one that sustains life and therefor all life in the universe ex...

I used to play magic a lot, but lost touch with my playing buddies. The most vicious card I ever had to deal with was an Avatar of Woe. I went and bought two R50 Meddling Mages, specifically to to take out my mate's Avatar of Woes. He had more than one. Loved the game, would like to get playing agai...
