You actually don't even have to go into the Control Panel. Just use the super startbar.

Start->Type an item to search for
eg. start typing partition or mouse

Well Mclaren, it's all down to personal preference I would imagine. Each option has it's pros and cons. Depending on how vigilant you are, there should be no duplicates in the library.
