Re: Cool Broadband Speed Test

Hi all, Moved to Germany a couple of months back - hence my silence over the last few weeks. Here is my result. This is the cheapest slowest internet available (currently living on a shoestring). It costs €19.90 per month (+-R200 pm) - uncapped/unshaped/free telephone calls within Germany. The speed...

Prime, the SB700 is an excellent flash. If you are just starting with flash then I'd recommend just setting it to TTL and forget playing around with manual settings until you've got the hang of just using the flash in full auto mode. Where ever possible bounce your flash off the ceiling (or walls fo...

Re: Navara & Hilux have met their match

Agreed. Sadly the comfort level of the Jeep is incredibly low. I had the misfortune of having to sit in the back seat for an hour while we drove up a mountain pass in the berg. It was a horrid experience. No doubt it is hugely capable off-road but when you need a spine replacement each time you use ...

Re: Which one to blame?

Like Sojourn says, just have a look at OS updates. Especially if there was a new install of an OS or even Office in the last 10 days.. A clean install of win 7 (pre SP1 in particular) which is set to auto patch for important and critical updates as well as patching Office will gobble up a gig and a ...

Re: Choosing a television

I coughed up some cash for one of the Game specials today. http://www.game.co.za/RapidCat/game/rsa/pages/page-3.jpg Got the top one on the page. The Samsung 46" LED 5 series... From what I can tell it's a good price. Googled the model last night and the prices ranged from R11899 to R17999 so th...

Re: Firefox 4

Yup, gotta say IE9 works fine with the latest flash.
I have been reading that the latest Adobe flash versions (since 10.2 onwards) have been giving all the browser developers headaches, but appears IE, Chrome (and Opera?) have ironed the issues out. Firefox, for me at least, has utterly failed.

Re: Firefox 4

I hung up my FF4 hat today.
The issue FF4 has with Adobe flash has driven me close to maddness.
Doesn't appear to affect many FF users but it has affected me and I can no longer handle the browser crashes.
IE9 works much smoother for me.. a sad day it is..

Appears that edge lighting allows the screens to be insanely thin but local dimming gives you better whites and blacks..
Am looking at the LED Samsungs as well, but their latest models are quite expensive..

Hi everyone, We have finally taken the plunge and got an HD PVR decoder so we need a new TV ;) Our budget is R10k. I have done some prelimary googling but to be honest I'm totally lost. The range of TV's that can be bought in that price range is massive.. Should I be looking at LED and if yes, edge ...

What operating system are you using? Is the printer compatible with the OS?
Have you completely uninstalled the printer and re-installed with the latest drivers?
Have you tried installing the printer on another pc?

Sojourn - you should really look at the Canon S95 for your needs.
It really is a spectacular little camera.

Latest PIX mag really rates it highly.

doo_much - Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting. Well, for example, the other day, Mary my wife and I went into town and visited a shop. When we came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. We went up to him and I said, 'Come on, m...

I just picked up a set of Logitech Z623's yesterday :) They are the replacement for the Z2200's I think.
Very powerful, the sub is quite hefty so you may need some extra space beneath your desk..
Can recommend them whole-heartedly!

You can download the full SP1 from the Microsoft site.. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=c3202ce6-4056-4059-8a1b-3a9b77cdfdda You will need the windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe option - a crispy 903 megs or so. Re: Digital Camera, Help Choose

The thing to remember is all cameras (even the cheapest new point n' shoots )can take great shots IF the light is right. The big difference is when the light becomes challenging, then you will see cameras true colours (pun not intended). In low light conditions the small sensors and slow lenses of t...

Cupis,
If you can do without a huge zoom then listen to the wise words of Ryan. The Canon S95 is a fantastic little camera. It's got a super fast lens which means even in low light it will deliver good images.
