Re: Need help with i7 2600 temperatures

I'm using an Intel board and my temps in the BIOS show about 40c, but my CPU is clocked at the moment. Could it perhaps be that the temp probe on the board is faulty, or perhaps reporting in Fahrenheit (wild shot in the dark on this one)? Like Slim said, install Windows and Realtemp and take it from...

Re: Need help with i7 2600 temperatures

To be honest, I wouldn't bet my life on the bios temps, but have a look at the CPU fan settings in your bios, perhaps turn it up a bit and use the bios readings as a gauge to see if it helps. The ideal would be if you can install something like RealTemp or whatever it's called to check the temps. My...

Re: Need help with i7 2600 temperatures

Something very wrong :!: Give us some more info on your system please...

Idle temps should be about 30c, give or take a few degrees. You sure that the cooler is set properly on the CPU? Also have you installed any software to monitor the temps, if so what are they reading?

Busy with Medal of Honor: Tier 1. So far an enjoyable game (read "good time killer"), but the graphics are rather mediocre in my opinion.

Re: whats the best LGA1155 mobo under R1600???

As The_Stig said, do you plan on overclocking? If not then the 2500K is a waste of money. If you do plan to overclock do keep in mind that you will have to get either a P67 or Z68 mobo, the H67 mobos will not be able to overclock. Not sure what the cheapest model available is, but have a look at the...

Re: Input needed on rig build

Hey J_Bay, I reckon you have a very good line up there. But I'm with Slimshaedy on the P67 vs Z68 mobo. If you get a Z68 that meets all your requirements go for it, but alternatively look for a P67 as they tend to be cheaper.

Re: Input needed on rig build

@ Slim: You do make a valid point regarding the RAM. In hindsight I should also have gone with a faster set. My next ram upgrade will see some G.Skill modules finding their way into my PC. The mobo I recommended is the one I'm currently using and so far I can't fault it in any way. It is part of Int...

Re: Input needed on rig build

@ J_Bay: If I'm not mistaken they have compared all the previous AMD chips to Intel until they get launched and then you start seeing the short comings. Can't comment on AMD myself, but after reading countless reviews I will not easily depart from an Intel system, might get a cheap AMD system as a s...

Re: i7 Build Need Help.

Don't sell the 2500k short, it is an awesome chip and more than capable to handle anything you through at it currently and I think it will be for some time to come as well. The only advantage you might get from the 2600k is the HT, but currenty there is not that much software than can fully exploid ...

Im also wanting to get a new monitor. preferably 23" LED. any suggestions? Budget = 2k max For this price range I would suggest you have a look at the Samsung XL2370. I've had mine about 2/3 months now and no complaints. Got it from Makro for R1699, not to sure if they still have it at this pr...

Re: The fanless spinning heatsink...

I'm trying to imagine it but a heatspreader spinning around will add some hectic G force on to the board depending on its size and weight... (unless I have the wrong picture in my mind:) ) But still a very good idea!! I'd love to see one in action I hear you!! Can you imagine the amount of pressure...

Re: Thermal compounds - who uses what

Cleaned off all the old thermal paste and reapplied new paste. Used slightly more pressure when I mounted the cooler and ran Prime 95 again. This time my max temp went up to 75 degrees, which is about 3 degrees less than what I got with the pre-applied stuff from intel. Idle temps are also about 3-4...

There is an issue with regards to the 570's not being able to adjust voltages when using Afterburner 2.1. Can't find the article where I saw it though, but it is related to Afterburner directly and not to the Nvidia drivers. It seems that this issue affects all cards fitted with the Twin Frozr III c...

I'm currently using Zalman ZM-TG2 and I'm very disappointed with it, ok so it only cost me R37 but I needed it. Thermal compounds - who uses what

I had a look through the forums and can't really find one specific topic dealing with this. What I would like to know is: 1) Who uses what thermal compounds/ what would you recommend? 2) How does it perform; is there a noticible difference in temps (did it meet your expectations)? This goes for CPU...

Re: Good cooler for the GTS 450

What brand is your card, meaning Gigabyte, Asus, etc? What clocks are you running at currently and what are your temps like? Have a look at the link below. It would seem that the GTS450 uses the same mounting hole layout as earlier Nvidia cards. Might be of help for you to locate an aftermarket cool...
