Re: MSI Calls Bluff on Gigabyte's PCIe Gen 3 Ready Claim
I remember Slimshaedy's original thread. I think we all where wondering how they would implement this with existing hardware...So MSI is saying that Gigabyte lied?
I guess we could all just sit back and enjoy a boxing match between two MOBO vendors, lol!

Re: Could we deal with the end of time zones?
This is fail on so many levels. It's all good and well to say we can all use the same time, but in reality it would mean that some of us would have to become nocuturnal especially if you have dealings with people from over seas. I for one find it nice to be awake during the day and sleep at night, a...

Re: Input needed on rig build
Well hopefully they'll still make new processors for the 1155 socket, that way we can stay with Dual Channel for a while!

Re: PCI-E 3 on LGA1155
lol, well at least the PCI - E 3.0 is a nice touch, I'm thinking that a 2500K should handle games for a few years so now I feel quite happy about going the Intel route!!

Re: PCI-E 3 on LGA1155
So that means that if I buy my board now, and they release this patch, it'll go from having PCI - E 2.1, to PCIE - E 3.0? Which then ensures at least some future proofing? Especially if Intel is kind enough to release new generation 22nm processors on the LGA1155 socket...

Re: Input needed on rig build
I was looking for a P67, but they're not all that much cheaper than the board I listed, I think its on special, lol! I was wondering about OCing this chip. I know it has unlocked multipliers, and turbo boost. Normally when you OC an AMD BE chip, you disable turbo boost and up the multiplier and volt...

Re: Input needed on rig build
I think I read that they can, I know the HAF 912 lets you take out the one HDD Cage for longer cards, but I remember reading somewhere that the 6970 can sneak in with the cage in place, but either way it will fit. I'll check if the V6 cooler will fit...It's a damn nice looking cooler, lol!

I can't say I've ever needed a valid reason to spend money, but this should be as good a reason as any, lol! Unfortunately Fishing and PC's are two of my favorite things, and both are very expensive hobbies when you do them properly which is the only way to do things, lol!!

Re: Input needed on rig build
So after getting a lot of helpful advice from people here, and reading several benchmarks, I have put together another possible list of components, this time based on an Intel Sandy Bridge platform. I know some stuff might cost a bit more than necessary but it's still within my budget(mostly!), and ...
