Re: What game are you currently playing?

Just finished Homefront on the weekend. Back to playing BFBC2 online. Have my second varsity module starting next week, so no gaming for 6 weeks until assignments are in

Re: BFBC2 - Online

I've got all the goodies on sniper, and gold stars in almost all the weapons except one of the "Snipershyacan'tpronounce" things.. I just don't enjoy the play style. Anti-tank, or medic!! Medic is always welcome when your whole squad is attacking and you can keep them alive with revives an...

Re: BFBC2 - Online

I take personal pride in hunting down and knifing any sniper that gets me.. I hate snipers.. I do see guys getting banned / kicked for exploits, but that just makes me believe, that in BFBC2, like any other game, for every cheat / bot / exploit that is known, there are many that are not known, and i...

Re: BFBC2 - Online

How much 'botting' and cheating do you guys think is happening in BFBC2 online? I've noticed some days you're having a good game, and some days a bad game, BUT, consistently when playing on a public server, be is WAGE or SGS etc, when certain clans have people on (so far [Synergy] and [NSD] stands o...

Re: Post your Rig!

Originally my pc came with a Cooler Master USP-100 case. Running the i7 and 2 x GTX460's proved to be too hot for the case. I could keep a meal warm on the thing  What is this? News toys! http://www.i-eve.co.za/wp-content/uploads/haf1.jpg Yes, HAF-922 with 2 x 90CFM Sicklefans at the top. M...

Re: Drive failure rate?

Hahahah, it was just movies and series. For my Msc studies I do the initial work on a external drive I use every day, then once I'm done for the night, I copy it all to 2 x 250gb drives in in a mirror.

Oh well, good news, just got the email that I can collect the replacement drive from Landmark. Still annoyed that it failed, since it now makes me more paranoid about my data..

Drive failure rate?

Anyone had their 1Tb drives fail yet? I just had a 4month old Samsung Spinpoint 1Tb fail on the weekend. Last time I had a drive fail must have been over 10 years ago!! Even worse is that this is the second item to fail from my purchase in December through Landmark. The pc shipped with a 'dud...

Re: Homefront - Steam update

This is making me reconsider buying games that require Steam. I have no problems with copy protection, but when I pay R400 for a game, I want to go home and play the darn thing!

** ninja edit, forgot the 'no' in front of copy protection

Homefront - Steam update

Anyone have an idea how big the flippen update is? Bought Homefront in the week and once I installed it last night Steam started downloading the patch. I cancelled it because the wife uses our slow 384k ADSL for business during the day. Any chance of a direct download link? Else I'll just have to le...

Re: [Worklog] My 'majat' file server gets a new lease on lif

Just picked up a tube of CoolerMaster NanoFusion paste, so the compound hack won't be for long (but it did it's duty). Would also be good to see the difference between a 'hacked compound' and the real thing once I have it applied.

Re: [Worklog] My 'majat' file server gets a new lease on lif

One more thing remained. Since I cleaned off the dust the cpu has been running a little hot. Nothing dangerous, and the old P4's have a habit of shutting themselves down when they overheat, but it bothered me a bit. http://www.i-eve.co.za/wp-content/uploads/blue34.jpg I think I messed up the remaini...

Now it was simply a matter of actually fitting the grid to the top panel. http://www.i-eve.co.za/wp-content/uploads/blue26.jpg First needed to clamp it in place. Re: [Worklog] My 'majat' file server gets a new lease on lif

As you guys might remember the top section of my 'majat' file server still needed to be done. This weekend being a long weekend gave me the chance to do it. I found a old side panel at work with a grid style side panel that I wanted to use. PS: This is my father in the pics, not me! http://www.i-eve...

Re: [Worklog] My 'majat' file server gets a new lease on lif

I used Rustoleum cans. When I went to Builders Warehouse, the paint dude showed me the different paints they had. The cheap stuff (around R29 a tin) was to be avoided. :!: :!: Next up was the tins I used (around R59 a can), and there was a premium type at R109 I think. Don't quote me on those prices...

Re: [Worklog] My 'majat' file server gets a new lease on lif

The 4 in 3 Coolermaster Bay is about R170. I got mine from www.prophecy.co.za, but I've also seen it at Cafe Jave in Cape Town. Really makes drive management easy, and it has a 120mm fan with blue led, so gives a nice glow at night. The top part still needs work done on it, but that will happen in t...

Re: [Worklog] My 'majat' file server gets a new lease on lif

Once everything was cleaned, I tested the paint and I could work with the case. I had to be careful, since the paint only properly cures after 24hrs, but the wife wanted her 'series' machine back online. Assembly started, including the now blue fans: http://www.i-eve.co.za/wp-content/uploads/blue15....

Re: [Worklog] My 'majat' file server gets a new lease on lif

We had lunch and I did the colour coats of pain, letting it dry in the mid-day sun. Re: [Worklog] My 'majat' file server gets a new lease on lif

Now it was time for some elbow grease and the hard part. One trip down to Builders Warehouse and I had some supplies. The 'Rustoleum' stuff is expensive but works great: http://www.i-eve.co.za/wp-content/uploads/blue21.jpg Lots of sanding (which I didn't take boring pics of) and we were ready for pa...
