It will be no surprise then that South Africans will pirate the living daylights out of this game with dedicated server hacks. Not like Activision cares though. I had the same problem with COD4, then realized that if I quit the Steam application the ping goes back to normal. Do you have applications like that running in the background?

Why not try one of those PCI-e riser cards that changes the orientation of the graphics card? Then you can sommer buy a Geforce GTX460 (depending on the horizontal space available of course)
