I'm still using version 2.49. What version are you using? The reason I ask is because Blender 2.5's Alpha 2 is now available and I hear it has a new layout. I also hear that quite a bit has changed. Dunno if is wise switching to 2.5 now as it still might have a few bugs.

You could have saved the updates as Windows stores downloaded updates in C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Downloads. There is also a built-in-tool that you can use.

There are 2 versions. The free version is good enough to create a good 2D/3D game, but the Pro version has a lot of cool (extra) features. When you download the free version, you get a trial of 30 days to use the Pro version.

I don't believe in things such as "the best anti-virus program". I do like Avast a lot.

I am currently developing with Unity. You should definitely check them out (if you haven't already).
