compared 2 a 9600, what ati card would give similar performance? I don't want 2 make a biased decision simply because every one uses nvidea

im running my system on a 17inch monitor so i use 1024 by 768. The main objective me the card is to be able 2 run any games that come out over the next 3years as after that i'll be buying a new system. If i could get a 9600 for R1600 then i would definately get it.

Which is the better buy? A 8500gt 512meg, a 8600gt 256meg or a hd2600 256meg? All cost R1200. Please don't tell me to spend more on a more expensive card as im a student and on budget.
